Purchase advise

Might be interesting to ask the dealer for a carfax and see what happens - while running your own. Purchasing from the same place that inspected it would make me nervous if that's what's going on and if these guys are covering up the history I would be calling Porsche up to let them know about it assuming they're a Porsche dealer.
Without this additional information I don't see any red flags. If this car is the same one and has some history that's not been revealed then it gets dicier...

Most people are not diy types and the repair costs for a car with 70+k and heavy mods is a big gamble that is why I try to steer people away from these types of cars. People here with skills/knowledge I believe lose perspective. If someone has skills and the money for possible repairs yes it could be a good buy, me Id rather pay up front and lessen the chances for headaches. Just an opinion.

the notion that a car with mid level mods and 70k miles miles is something to be afraid of and run from or however you put it, is absurd. my car has been tracked and beat up and tracked some more and cared for and has 127875 miles and there is nothing wrong with it! it is track ready NOW,.. TODAY.
rmc you seem to subscribe to the notion without ever having had any first hand knowledge or experience with these cars beyond your pristine garage queen ( which i'm sure is a lovely specimen and that is peachy ) what these are capable of and what should and should not be looked out for!
it's not a personal attack its a criticism of your clockwork like assessment that anyone that buys a car unlike your garage girl is somehow entering a world of hurt.( and speaking of "hurt" sorry if your feelings got "hurt" but that's all i EVER hear from you ) "it's high mileage, you dont know the records, stay away", and it's bullsH*t.
that's my point, if it felt like a personal attack it wasn't intended as such, but it characterized your constant and never changing stance and advice, and i'm here to tell ya, you're just plain wrong about these cars and have never had one tracked with mileage or modded, so you "read". well, that don't fly with me, so i countered your opinion once again, forgive me if my tone is a bit more strident than you would like, i just tire of your parroting the same old tired line. oh caveat emptor, the car is modded with mileage. ..and if the car had an accident, that wasn't reported and you've found it? good for you, that changes nothing of my opinion of your warnings to others vis a vis higher mileage cars and their relative worth. cheers.

think this car absent frame damage and a clean bill of health by a repped body shop isn't worth 36k? thats just plain nuts. because it is.

The problem is that both of you are looking at it from a different perspective. Both are valid but you are not taking a key point into the equation and that is what the buyer is looking for.
A - A Collector Piece - This would be more of RMC's advice. You will get top value for a car that has no accident history, all records, low mileage and never tracked.
B - A Fun Car - A car that is devoid of any major issues and will be reliable. Its a trade off between price and desired setup.
For a car that has known accident history, you should be well bellow 39k unless prices have jumped a bit in the past couple months. You are essentially taking on more risk with the car with an accident so the price of entry would be cheaper (same with anything.. stocks, house etc). As 02 said, the biggest thing is to make sure there is no frame damage. You could probably talk the dealer down but that is only if you are ok with not getting top dollar if you ever sell it.
Given the mileage and the accident, I would be offering somewhere in the 33-35 range but only if the PPI comes back clean and that is with the frame being checked. I paid more for low miles and clean history but that was just what I was looking for. Your money, your car, and your choice.

^ a well balanced and fair take on both positions.. that car's worth 35k retail any day of the week. no frame damage. just look at it! notwithstanding the particulars
surrounding this particular car. it is what is, accident or not. my beef, is that rmc continually attempts to dissuade folks from what could in fact be great deals
and we are supposed to know what we are "talkin about here"! mods and miles, provided pricing is commensurate with same, shoud be deal MAKERS not breakers

Odd thing about the accident is that the "carfax is clean," which just goes to show you that carfax doesn't capture everything.
I'm wondering how much the dealership bought the car for from the prior seller.

Check the other car report, cant think of it right now. I looked at a nice 993 recently that came up with an accident after I searched= was listed as clean no accidents but dealer did change advertisement after I brought it to their attention.

Wanted to add that I have cars that I don't ever mention as I do not feel the need to share everything= and they are modded. My first car that I built with the help of family at 15 ran low 11s and was far from the fastest car I've owned.

You two play nicer on rennlist, what is it about 6speed that's diff?
My school of thought is this, when I bought mine I knew nothing about em and the idea of buying a previously wrecked car would have pushed me away regardless esp for a dare I say "super car". Maybe if I had Porsches for years the idea of buying a less than pristine example wouldn't be that big of deal. Owning one of these cars is no less than amazing and id hate for a new owner to be plagued with hidden gremlins.
