Whining sound from engine bay
Whining sound from engine bay
Hello,
Newbie posting here, I was hoping you guys might be able to offer up a little insight into an issue that just popped up on my ’01 TT. I had planned to take it to the shop, but was interested to hear if anyone has had this same is on theirs.
I noticed quite a loud sound coming from the engine bay about two weeks ago. The sound is hard to explain, I was under the assumption it was a worn belt at first. I always start the car and let it idle for a bit before pulling it out, I heard this sound when I pulled up to a traffic light about a mile away. I now hear it when I start the car and when I come to a complete stop after driving for 1-8 miles, then it goes away. The car is throwing codes 1130 and 1131. I’m thinking it has something to do with the pump, but was has me stumped is I can hear it running after the noise ceases when I first start it. I replaced two of these pumps on my old Benz, but this is due to a design flaw and the pump sits low, so it can easily get wet and then completely dies. I’m positive that I can hear the pump running.
Has anyone ever experienced this problem, I would really appreciate some assistance. I’m pretty good with working on cars, I am no Porsche mechanic though and the engine area is very tight compared to anything I have worked on in the past. I cannot even see the pump. I think it’s on the passenger side?? Please let me know your thoughts.
Cheers,
-Bob

iirc they are indeed SAI related codes, as i guessed at. though i have been known to be wrong. but in your Rlist thread you reposted/updated the codes as "0410 and 0411".
check em out and gl.

I did some reading on the subject and some have found that it can be as simple as replacing MAF or loose vacuum hose as far as 0410-0411 code? Your mechanic should be able to straighten this out fairly quick.
