I hate to start a new thread but I have searched and could not find exactly my issue. Last week out of the blue my turn signals just stopped working. I checked the bulbs to see if they all work and the lights come on when I push the hazard switch and they also flash when I turn the alarm on and off.
I thought it maybe the stalk but the high beams work so I am a little stumped to why the turn signal is the only thing not working. I don't even think there is a fuse just for the turn signals


Any help appreciated.

 

They come on or flash with the hazards?

They come on or flash fast with the turn signals on?

The Blinker Unit maybe?

 

The flash when the hazard switch is pushed.
They do not work at all with the turn signal stalk.


Did not know there was a blinker unit.

 

It's a relay, I'm also seeing that some electrical contact cleaner at the base of the turn signal stalk might do it.

 

I would guess the stalk.

 

Many cars have two flashers, one for hazards and one for turn signals I believe. Does the 996 just use one or does it have two?

 

Looks like just one relay, 11 bucks, amazon has it too.

Thanks all, I will look at the relay first as I really don't think its the stalk as mine still clicks and retracts.

 

Are your other controls working properly? AC and lights. If either of these is acting up it may be the ignition switch. I hope you find your problem!

 

All others work perfectly.

 

when you turn the signal on....stalk up or down...do you hear the clicking sound from under the dash? if you don't hear it, it's the turn signal relay. its above the fuse box nx to the foot rest pedal. its marked 194 on the relay

 

When I move the stalk up or down it clicks into position but there is no clicking sound at all, after I have turned the corner the stalk resets itself as if it's done it's job
Ordered the relay, hopefully a simple fix.

 

I checked the relay on ecstuning around $4 for aftermarket= was surprised how cheap.

 

I decided to stick with oem and pay the extra 6 bucks.
