Some Turbos are stronger than others, and upgrading a strong Turbo to Stage 2 just makes it even stronger. You have a fast car...

I did a quick run against a Turbo S, and I pulled pretty hard in 2nd. A chip will definitely make a difference. Now put a chip in the X50 and let's see the results! lol

Definately seems quick but I guess some cars are faster than others like you said. Anyone know what a K16/24 hybrid with chip and exhaust should be good for at boost of 1.0?

1.0 bar should be at or just shy of 500whp I would guestimate. I would assume 93 octane?

Also...keep in mind guys...my car *seems* like it's very fast for a Stage 2. I put 1-2 car lengths over and over again on a 460 rwhp Viper about three weeks ago....which I posted about in the below thread

No, unfortunately I don't have any mechanically linked AWD dynos nearby to do it. And isn't important enough to me to remove my front driveshaft.

I noticed, you are in VA...I'm just across the W.W. in Southern MD ...I may be purchasing someone's TPC SC kit in a few weeks and having it installed at TPC itself. With a couple of other minor supporting mods it's looking in the neighborhood of ~420RWHP in my 02' 3.6L C2 coupe* Doing the math, a turbo (~3400lbs) would need nearly 470AWHP to be *even* with me. Hence, I think a stage 3 should "edge" me out. If you're still at your current mod level when alls said and done with my car I would LOVE to do a few friendly video runs like the ones you posted. It should be a great race, and being yours is a stronger than normal stage 2 I have no idea what to expect. The cappucino back at the local starbucks is on me win or lose ...nice video's, thanks for sharing!

Math is good for weight, but you have to take into account the gear ratios as well. For example, a Viper running the stock 3.07 gears will quickly loes to a Viper of the same year running 3.73 gears.

What are the gear ratios + final drive for your C2?

You're right.

The overall gear ratio x the flywheel troque = turning force at the rear wheels. The overall gear ratio = specific gear ratio x the final drive.

People forget the importance of gearing...

Right you are, Dock!

Just take a look at the stock 996TT that weighs more than a stock Gallardo and has 85hp less. However, the Gallardo barely pulls away from the 996TT under ideal conditions. The Gallardo has the weight and horsepower advantage by a rather large margin, yet the gears play a large roll.

Now, I have seen 3.82 and 3.08 for the final drive ratio on the Gallardos. Given the runs that I have seen, I would suspect the 3.08 to be true as the 996TT comes with a 3.44 rear and holds rather close given the weight and 85hp disadvantage.

Gallardo:

Gear Ratio
1st gear: 2.56
2nd gear: 1.85
3rd gear: 1.42
4th gear: 1.14
5th gear: 0.94
6th gear: 0.81
final drive: 3.08 (I have seen 3.82 on some sites - perhaps the newer models?)

Sounds good, Kevin. I'm always up for a run.

FYI...my supercharged M3 only weighed 3200 lbs and was making in the neighborhood of an *honest* 430-450 rwhp before I sold it (I made 416 with 2 psi less boost a few months earlier).

It also had a 8,000 rpm redline, 4:10 gears and shifted in 80 milliseconds with it's SMG manual tranny. And my current TT (surprisingly to me) is significantly faster than it was.

I'll be very surprised if your C2 will keep up...but it will be fun to find out regardless of the outcome.

Gearing does make a big difference. I ran with a chipped 6 speed and I have a tip. Both of us in second gear and I pulled him as well. Especially when he needed to shift to third much sooner than me. My car will pull around 125 or so in third gear so there is no need for another shift during a street run. I also showed the guy just how hard it is to launch that six speed. Can you say GONE. He was certain he would school me. We both learned something.
