Center duct on the GT2 is designed to flow air out above the bumper in front of the hood, side ducts designed to cool better I think and can route air to the brakes. The GT2 has different brake cooling that's supposed to be better, those ducts may be what Krazy was talking about missing from the RUF? They're really just air guides I think, the full GT2 uses them for sure. Mikelly's write up on the conversion has the details I think?

I don't believe you're going to get any of the function without the ducting. I mean the RUF was wind tunnel tested and comes with the ducts. Without them, it just looks cool.

i have custom ducting that runs from r/l from the fascia ( round holes, dont ask me how "they" did it ) that allow me to run simple 2" hoses that leads air directly to the calipers and is tucked away nicely. i still have to replace it annually as i scrape it to bits.

it's easily as cool :rolleyes: as any gt2 ducting :) and cost me about 5 bucks LOL

That will cool the brakes well but doesn't have the other aero benefits. Frankly considering my traffic here that's not a huge concern for me. I've got a 'glass bumper with a GT2 style duct that probably isn't setup right, for street driving it's fine but I know it's not optimal. If you seriously track the car additional cooling is supposed to be needed and the GT2 stuff is supposed to work well. Pretty sure I've seen the air guides from a GT2 setup with stock fender liners too here somewhere.

The RUF bumper is damn nice and certainly more durable than what I have. If I thought it would look okay with my Techart side skirts it would be an easy decision, wish it had DRL :( Actually, I wish more than one company made OEM quality aftermarket bumpers for our cars!

i wasn't sure what the bumper was made of. nice to hear it isn't glass. the brake ducting goes hand in hand with the inner liners to direct the air to the calipers since the gt2 liners aren't vented like the turbo liners. this keeps more air inside the ducting routing thru the radiators

if i were you i'd simply match the tech art skirts with their ta bumper though the ruf also is fully functional AND looks boss.. but that's me. as for more aerodynamics, i have zero need for it as it's a dedicated hillclimber, and its tracking days while behind it, though she is not out to pasture by any means :) but i am seriously considering the 997 techart styled TA front for looks and the drl's from precision911.

and yes, my calipers/rotors stay as cool as they possibly can with my setup. it;s actually fairly innovative and was done by my shop for the PO, and it definitely works. i STILL dont know how they made the holes in the front fascia as it "looks" "oem", and not "home made". all except for my home depot a/c hose that is :rolleyes:

i would go ruf or the techart styled 997TA front, before an aftermarket gt2 front, esp without the ducting! but again, that's just me.

Ya, like minds here. I love the RUF because it looks great and won't have the issues of my 'glass nose with wear and tear but the look isn't exactly what I'd like. I will say it FITS! No muss no fuss the piece is as good as OEM, not so 'glass pieces. But I badly want the DRL look and something that matches existing pieces.

To the OP, I'd go RUF if you want the GT2 look but can't afford the OEM pieces. It's a complete setup at a reasonable price all things considered and it's as durable as a stock bumper. I have some rock impacts on my nose that have starred the paint, I have a slight crack from a curb, the piece is completely stiff with no flex so speed bumps and curbs are my enemy. It looks great and might have been cheaper (PO install) but the RUF is simply better overall from a day to day standpoint and it works well as a stock bumper replacement. I still might get one dang it.

Has anyone tried or seen the MJspeed front bumper? looking for pics or reviews with no luck. I heard its carbon and IMSA and pirelli challenge cars run his stuff

If anyone spends 10k on a front bumper (that gets trashed) for a 40k car, let me know. I want a good laugh.

No different than spending 20k on a motor and it going south but see your point. Its really how a person wants to spend their money and or how much of it they have. I would never spend the kind of money on mods that people spend here and I have it. I say do what makes you happy but when asking for opinions expect them= that's why I rarely ask.

Going to be ordering a GT2 front bumper in a few days...
 

Where can I see this TA 997 bumper with drl's. I must be typing in wrong. I have a glass GT2 replica that I haven't installed yet that I purchased from 32Krazy. I had planned to modify it but I would rather have something a little cooler on there, after all I just completed my new paint booth so let the modding begin!!
