Got paddle shifters for my Tip, now what?

So, a couple weeks ago I installed AMG paddles shift switches on my '03 turbo. I'm thinking of repurposing my old tip switches to turn signal switches. I have driven a lot of Ferrari's that have the turn signal switches on the wheel and I like the configuration.
Has anyone done this?

I recently hacked the AMG paddles onto my '08 Cayman S Tiptronic... So much nicer than the silly thumb switches!

I bought a spare steering wheel to do the mod from a non-tip car and it came with the 'blank' inserts used on non-tip cars, just used them where the original tip thumb switches were.

...but if you do decide to try and use the tip switches for turn signals, you'll have a few challenges:

1. The tip switches are 'momentary ground'. You'll need a circuit to trigger with that momentary ground and convert it to 12v blinker pulses.

2. There's no extra clockspring wires to allow you to send signals directly from the wheel to the steering column. You can 'encode' some signals on existing wires and 'decode' it on the column side, or do an RF circuit, but both are going to be a fair bit more difficult than just modding the AMG paddles onto a tip steering wheel.

I have been studying this and you are right, if it was easy everyone would be doing it! I like your RF suggestion, thank you!

I was thinking of putting another set of AMG paddle shifts on my Ford F150 EcoBoost which doesn't already have steering wheel mounted shift control, and was looking at using a small off-the-shelf RF transmitter to act as a "wireless clock-spring"...

Search for "2ch wireless remote" and you'll find hundreds of them for just a few bucks on ebay and amazon. Hack the paddles (or tip switches) into the remote portion and place inside the steering wheel, put the receiver under the dash someplace. Downside is having to pop out the airbag every year or two to replace the transmitter battery...
