Intakes

Anyone fitted one of these intakes? They promise 7whp but no mention of what it does to the induction noise.

Not heard of many that have fitted induction kits to the tt but Gruppe M seem to do one who are well thought of.

Noticed their intakes for the 997 and other models all claim to have been dyno tested and have made power. I'm not really looking to increase power (but it would be a bonus); my main aim would to be to get a bit of induction noise.

Any thoughts welcomed!

A couple of things to consider - the long intakes on our cars are pretty restrictive, replacing the box does little for the FEET of intake hose. The MAF is also apparently effected when the box is swapped, more than one person has found that they burn out MAF more easily after a swap. Going MAFless and bypassing all of the intake hose to put filters on the turbo frees things up a great deal for sure! However if you're in Dubai as your profile suggests I'd be hesitant to do that as the sand content there is probably way higher than anything most folks here experience after doing that! Putting filters up around the intercoolers with fender intakes would be better but still lots of work if noise is really what you seek.

There are a few intake hard pipes kits that replace the lengthy tubing but retain most or all of the stock airbox that might be better.install of these is no cakewalk and probably best saved for when the engine needs to be dropped for service.

If what you really want to hear is the whistle of the turbos, get a good exhaust! I can hear mine spool easily and I currently run the stock intake box. I've got an Unobtanium exhaust and its musical although I suspect not so much to those around me, I'll probably be having some small mufflers added to tone it down a little this Winter. I suspect I'll still hear the turbo just fine though :-D

Thanks guys for taking the time to respond. Indeed, I am in Dubai so have always doubted cone filters as the last thing I need is more heat soak. what I was really looking for was an induction note but will just have to do the exhaust instead. I know turbo cars don't sound as good with an intake but years ago I had a Fiat Coupe 20v turbo which sounded glorious with an aftermarket intake, albeit that was a five cylinder with a Audi Ur Quattro-esque warble!

I think a good exhaust will make you very happy, the whistle is pure sex! Unobtanium out of Canada made mine, NO drone! It's a touch loud I'm told - by friends that can hear me merge on the highway a half mile away Not bad inside and a little muffling will solve that issue
