996 turbo 2nd gear jump?
996 turbo 2nd gear jump?
Some would have us believe the issue with the 996 turbos jumping out of second gear is a "Porsche product flaw issue" and that 20% of those affected can not be repaired without custom gear work.
We're told... "After a proper replacement of the second gear and syncros to correct the jump out issue, the trans may still jump out of gear."
This kinda sounds like a backdoor excuse for not fully correcting (all) the possible issues while the transmission is out and apart.
Have you experienced this and what was your outcome?

i wont follow ya around but i did post about as reasonably a comprehensive expianation of the whole side from one who went REALLY deep into pcna over this issue years ago in "terminators" thread. thats also first page here today. byut terminators kinda old school here maybe i saw it here first? its just general info but cutting and pasting it again here would be kinda weird. so if you're interested, its a reasonably honest and educated reply. if you need me to place it "here" i will. if choose to ignore it? lol. that's cool too lol. whatever. was only six months out of my life to share the story took 5 minutes to type... so .. whatever.

Thanks, I have been reading the threads on this subject. I see you are well into it as well. No need to re-paste. I am wondering if a Porsche dealer's certified shop can actually open up and fix this nuisance issue once and for all?
of course they can. anyone with familiarity w g50 boxes can repair the box. its up to us not to RE-damage it.
if you have specific questions feel free to pm me. this is a topic with which i have a passing degree of familiarity.
