996TT on TST
I think as long as people know the possible risks, they can make their own opinions. Im never going to go radical with my car and have retained all of the stock parts should I ever decide to go that route. They are all in boxes and labeled... even the pudding based stock shifter.
Same here...stock shifter, exhaust, wheels, and sway bars are boxed up for safe keeping. Just enough modifications to personalize...
Good thinking I have modded cars and do the same putting take offs in labeled boxes. I also have some new hard to find parts left over from past adventures that never happened lol and enjoy checking them out from time to time when in my garage attic..
I have always been the same, I will not do anything that cannot be reversed completely. I have modded just about all my cars over the years and if I have to cut or drill something it's not going to happen..lol. I have all my stock parts packed away as well. Even when I was younger and I installed car stereo equipment, if I could not some how make the install without cutting or damaging a wire or harness..I would find another way.
I just had a new steering wheel redone in charcoal alcantara with red stitching for the 996TT. Rather than just sending off my stock steering wheel to get done, I bought another steering wheel to have redone and I'm putting away my original steering wheel. Maybe we're all crazy!!

I respect your opinion and agree to some degree but the purists will fawn over the car in time, headlights will take backseat to first water cooled with the dependable motor and manual. I really could care less but figure I will add some what I consider good advice and liven up the conversation along with it.
Even when these things get even older a clean tastefully modded one will be valuable. This is a car to be modded.
I think the way you can mod a 996tt brings everyone to the yard. 415hp stock isn't a monster. And I know the x50 may only be 30hp more from factory, but the way you can tune an x50 or regular car is the car's whole draw. That and the fact that its a beautiful P car.

Ill give you this much nyx you paid all the money for your car with those miles and modded= helps the value of the 996t. I have cars with more HP than my 996t and do mod some of my other cars but find the 996t to be more of a GT cruiser with enough power for the street. On forums you have to be thick skinned and let other have their opinions =I respect others opinions but really could care less and hope they think the same of mine..
The exhaust is from Ar Designs, it is currently cat less but does have cats that can be installed, I'm keeping it cat less, we don't have emissions here.

You are lucky.. NoVA will be instituting 'drive by' emissions soon.
This has already been implemented, they've been testing it for about two years. The issue I have with it they always setup in acceleration zones like onramps and ALWAYS at the top of inclines. Most cars go open loop and turn off emissions when pushed so putting these stations in areas where cars are likely to be emitting more emissions seems fishy to me. I will admit it may give me a chance to pass with a ProEFI without swapping so I look forward to trying it - I run legal cats on this car...
