Thanks Bernard,
I have noted down both Sean's recommended procedure and the one that you used.
Awaiting info from Sean regarding the recommended machining for thread / time-sert.
I can only find the M12 time-serts in up to 24mm length so actually leaning toward installing without time-serts..

My timeserts don't reach the whole length of the stud but they are much wider so it still covers more area. You could try to cut a timesert just right and use it to continue the length. The Evoms builds use two or three stacked helicoils so you could try that.

It looks like they make a 30mm but it is a special order. Yah you might just install them straight to the aluminum or maybe stack helicoils. Maybe Sean has the 30mm inserts, I'm not sure.

Yes, thanks, I was actually just looking at the same ones.
Back when I spoke with Sean about this 12mm kit and ordered, he seemed to think it was going to be just as fine without time-serts.
But my local cnc guy doing machining on my engine parts, recommends if I can get 30mm long inserts, then it makes good sence.

Thanks Sean,

I understand that time-serts are not NEEDED, and we will be just fine without.
But it is simple math that a 30mm long thread insert WILL be stronger than stud straight in aluminium.
Anyway please confirm the final torque is 90 ft lbs (?) in both cases?
Also you have PM

at the 800 hp goal you have there isnt any reason to think simply tapping the cases will be more than enough strength. 85 ft/lbs is the final torque i believe

Hey quick ? For the experts on this thread. I have to repair some head threads on my old 95 LWB Range Rover stripped the center hole on both sides trying to do a torque to yield:/ I have a 7/16" Helicoil kit but would it be worth it to get a Timesert kit to fix it? Again sorry to be off topic but it seemed a few people on this thread might know just trying to get this thing though the winter.
