Do you find your Gallardo overall superior to your modded 996TT? If so, please elaborate. Also, isn't the GT2 substantially different than the 996TT in overall feel and characteristics?
Thanks.

As I mentioned previously, I have read numerous magazine test reports stating the Gallardo has amazing handling. Has Lamborghini made their AWD cars handle as well and fun to drive as RWD cars such as the GT2?
Is the Gallardo closer to the 996 TT or GT2 in handling? I would think it more similar to the AWD 996 TT, but that is just a guess. What is the Gallardo like near its handling limits? I have read the GT2 takes a lot of skill to drive fast and is a difficult car to master. I can only imagine what it would be like with another 200 hp.

How much faster will a stage 4 GT2 be compared to a stock Gallardo? Are we talking just a slow pull away from a roll or would the GT2 rip away from the Gallardo? Has anyone with a stock or modded GT2 encounter a Gallardo?
Eventually, if I decide on the Gallardo, I would probably change the exhaust, but that's it. Thanks.

Gallardo. There is always someone faster no matter what you drive, so might as well look good.

Car is set up from Factory for 18" wheels. Handles better with 18's, they fit better and you have more tire option.
GT2 suspension is adjustable, however the shocks are not. The Moton shocks are adjustable for compression and rebound allowing you to dial in the car. The Stock package has progressive springs that are too soft and dampers that are too stiff. It works fine on a smooth road but is a bit rough on anything else. The stock suspension works great, but you can improve on it and there are lots of options.
Good luck,
JCM

The stock 996tt IMHO handles quite poorly at its limit. It understeers significantly as soon as you roll into the throttle mid-corner. You can easily get the front to tuck back in, but that requires you to get out of the gas...not the fast way to exit a corner. I have done alot of work (or Cary mostly has...) and we have cured this pretty much fully. Required going to GT3-RS suspension pickup points front and rear, removal of most of the rubber from the suspension connection points, new springs and shocks/struts, and an aggressive alignment. With these changes, the car handles great.
The Gallardo handles much better stock...much more balanced and benign. I am just now collecting info on how to rid it of the tendancy (though MUCH less pronounced than in the stock 996tt) to understeer when powering out of a corner. Looking at just putting on a more aggressive alignment for starters. Maybe lowering the car 10mm. Much thanks to both Cary Eisenlohr (the master of all things handling) and Stephan from Lambo-Racing GmbH in Germany for their assistance. I think the basic suspension geometry and balance of the Gallardo is so much better that a proper alignment and lowering the car a little will most likely be enough to get the handling sorted.
Will let you guys know when I know more,
John
