996 Turbo Missing Headlights?

WELL. "IT" happened again! seems those riceburning, chainsaw owners are on the prowl AGAIN. My client has lost(ripped out of fenders) a second set of lights on her Turbo within the last 4 weeks. We recovered the housings (broken) only to see the ignitors torn off the backs-those FIENDS.
Well...it took me a while to find the first set-i guess it'll take time to find a second set-the "junkyards" don't exactly have clean parts available and the insurance company must be taught to realize that.
If you see a chainsaw with bright lights-spit at them!-Mark

This was ridiculous! AND she parks her car in the same spot that they used the first go-round! I feel terrible for her, but I cautioned her on NOT to park in the same area. The best is that they (politzia) found the lights in a garbage can, 10 feet from the car. They had the ignitors ripped out!

Why would she park her turbo on the street?? Thats asking for something to happen. If you can't afford to put your Turbo in a parking garage you probably should be driving something less expensive.

She left it there for an hour! Guess someone in the neighbor"hood" need his crack pipe filled. Probably sold them for next to nothing! I've only replaced two other sets with all the turbos we service. Mark

Have the VIN nr engraved in the headlight lenses.
That way it's possible to identify the owner and the part becomes useless for resell.

Unfortunately Gert-the crackheads who perform these dastardly deeds CAN'T READ...Sooo, by the time anyone figures out that the vin has been scribbed in...it's too friggin' late! Besides-as they PRY the eyes out of our beloved machines-they destroy the lights anyway (usually). Mark-havefunkillthievesdriveporsche
BTW- As I have previously mentioned, with all the turbo's we service this is NOT a usual occurance-
HEY-how about a poll on this subject!

I heard that Nissan Maxima owners had the same problem so Nissan moved the ballasts off of the light units and onto the cars themselves which eliminated the problem. Too bad Porsche did not do the same with their lights.
