The color temp is not the brightness of the light is only refering to what the light color is on a light spectrum, the lumunes is what is the factor of brightness.

A standard Philips or Osram Sylvania D2S bulb is rated at 4100K color temp but produces 3200lm +/- 450lm, while a 6000K bulb is rated at 2500lm +/- 450, and the best halogen bulb a H7 produces 3200K Temp and 1335lm @ 12.8V.

This is from a tread I posted on the 996 section:

When looking at a 12000K head on...it appears brighter because the short, medium and long cones in your eyes all have hypersensitivity in the blue wavelength range. Also the higher composition of blue wavelengths tend to radially disperse in the atmosphere which comes out in two ways: glare and decreased amount of usable light along the intended trajectory of the beam due to radila distribution. Also...blue reflects more off of wet surfaces...making them not ideal for adverse situations. Blue is not a color to drive with...fortunately its only a side effect of our OEM projectors and not a constituent to the body of the beam pattern.

I hope I saved you some trouble in the future.

The only thing that could make the Xenon lights brighter is a 50W ballast, but it comes with a downside. The standard 35W bulb will look a little bit yellowish and the bulb will have about a 40% decrese in its life.

Philips has or is coming out with a 50W bulb and in conjuncture with a 50 watt ballast the night will turn into the sun

But I know that you are just looking for something to match your Xenon's, Fog's. City lights, and the other lights on your car. I bet you never thought it would be so much of a hassle.

But to get a nice bluish and powerful light a 6000K bulb along with a 50W ballast would work.

Lou,
it is true that 6000K may not be as bright as our 4100K. in other words, higher temperature output doesn't mean it'll give u brighter light.

i did some research a while ago while i had my 02 Audi A4 (Audi owner are crazy about lighting ). i wanted to upgrade my stock 4100K bulb to Philip 6000K bulb, but i found out 6000k was not really brighter, but really a lot bluer. so it's ur call if u want/like the blue look.

i tried to find the chart to show u what i mean but i couldn't find it. what i found out was 4300K should be the brightest light temp because it's the closest temp to the sun, which also the whitest. anything go beyond that will turn blue and then purple. i also found out that after long driving at light ur eyes will adobted to the white the best & wouldn't feel tired compare to bluer (< than 4300K) or yellower (> than 4300K).

if u like the blue look here is the bulb u should get. Philip 6000K D2R (we use D2R as well).

i also have some pics to show u.

sorry, i remember wrong. the sun light is 5200K. but anyway, here is what i was talking about.

Kelvin: Color temperature is a unit of measure for the color of light – it is not necessarily related to the heat of the light source. A higher color temperature represents a color closer to actual sunlight.

And here is a link to Hid-Online explaining color temp.

A 4100K bulb is 20% brighter than a 6000K bulb.

Yes, color temp is not same as brightness. Brightness = Lumens.
The lumens between 6000k & 4300k (stock) is only around 300 lu. The difference is not noticeable. To us 6000k will appear to be brighter than 4300k, because human eye is more sensitive to higher color temp.

I use 6000k because it looks way better than yellowish stock HID bulb.

Btw, 6000k halogen is brighter than stock bulb because it has higher wattage output.

Thanks alot guys, really helpful. One final question. I want to preface by saying I like the "bluer" look. What I want to know is this, if I get the 6000k xenon lights, will the 6000k H3 and H7 halogens match my xenons or will the H3 and H7 lights still be way off as mine are now?

I dont think so.. because I used to have them on my CL Brabus(SOLD).

So they matched or not? Am I missing something? Ok, just to summarize, here is what I need

driving lights--H7??? is that right or no
Fogs----H3
Xenons D2S

If I get all 6000k bulbs, will they match? Obviously, the fogs and driving lights will be halogens with xenon gas. The only way I know of to get true xenons in the fogs and driving lights is to have additional ballasts.

WILL THE 6000K XENON HEADLIGHTS MATCH THE 6000k HALOGEN WITH XENON GAS LIGHTS IN THE FOGS AND DRIVING LIGHTS>WHICH BUKB FOR DRIVING LIGHTS, H7?

Thanks

Lou

Also, will the higher temp and wattage melt or disfigure the casing?

You need
Xenon D2S
High Beam if you want it H11
Fog H3
And City light/Driving light H6W

If you go 5-10 Watts higher I don't think you will have a problem but anything more and you destroy $2,000 headlights just for the Blue look.
