My switzer performance nightmare!

1000% TRUE!! Actually more things happened that I'm actually leaving them out... The last thing I want to do is ruin a reputation, but this had to be told!! I'd hate to see others go through what I had. I don't know anyone that wants to spend money on something that Ran fine prior to going there then leave with no boost and running like a piece of crap!! I don't half *** anything I do in life! Why should I allow it now???

Coming from the DSM world back in the day, Buscher and Tym go way back and they both had a great reputation. I guess its a tad different now with the GTRs in there and attempting to do more Porsche work. Good luck OP and thanks for sharing.
I'm just messing with you. I believe that you've sort of chosen the wrong service for your needs. Switzer specializes in building 2000 hp cars and is not your local indy mechanic. To take your car there for some minor maintenance is like asking Vincent van Gogh to do a police sketch for you. They were probably being nice and thought they would help you out, but it's not a surprise that your car fell behind in priority to the other high dollar builds in the shop and wasn't finished when you picked it up. It's a good shop.... for building 2000 hp cars and to knock it isn't fair.

I'm just messing with you. I believe that you've sort of chosen the wrong service for your needs. Switzer specializes in building 2000 hp cars and is not your local indy mechanic. To take your car there for some minor maintenance is like asking Vincent van Gogh to do a police sketch for you. They were probably being nice and thought they would help you out, but it's not a surprise that your car fell behind in priority to the other high dollar builds in the shop and wasn't finished when you picked it up. It's a good shop.... for building 2000 hp cars and to knock it isn't fair.

I also remember Tym from the DSM days. And not taking anything away from his progress to the GTR platform, I think some of these shops get used to people with almost unlimited funds. Dropping a motor to test for a small hesitation, then doing the back-peddle dance saying that maybe it is the MAF really seems bass-ackwards to me.
I know there are always multiple sides to every story, but this isn't the first time I have heard of Switzer falling short on the P-Cars.

One of the things that sucks being a business owner on a rising business is the fact that you cannot always control what happens. What you can do though is do damage control afterwards. Customer service is pretty much dead these days in most businesses, but there are a few good shops exist!
Personally I don't think the shop really did much wrong, they took a simple job most likely hoping for more work. Perhaps they could sell you on a 50k upgrade later. Case in point they did accept the job no matter how small it was.
The manager should have communicated your wishes, apparently Tym either ignored your request or simply did not get that communication. It could have just been a Tech being over-zealous trying to fix an issue he didn't understand, which snowballed out of control.
Either way, glad to hear that you got in touch with Markski, he will take care of you!

Let me start with I had a slight erratic idle on my pristine 2001 996TT with only 24k on it and may I add a AWESOME MARKSKI TUNE!! 👍. My car ran great and I was referred from a friend to give Switzer performance a call. He said they were very good. It also was less than 2 miles from my house! Anyhow... I had spoke to the daughter of the owner and we arranged to bring my car in. I was very blown away and impressed with the facility and there were atleast 10 Nissan GT-R 's. Tym had showed me one they just finished the build on and again I was very impressed!! Well with me being a business owner I wasn't in a quick rush for my car. I just wanted the problem addressed. After a couple weeks I had stopped in and was told no one knew where Tym was he just left to clear his head?? I left the message for him to call me and let me know some updates on my car. Never heard from him but did hear back from his shop mgr. he asked me to stop in. My girlfriend and I stopped there and Tym wasn't there again.... So we went to the back of the shop while my car was on the lift, and their telling me they had to drop the motor to get to where they "thought" there was a vacuum leak?? And that would be $1800 labor only! No parts! I was blown away! Slight erratic idle turns to my motor being dropped?? Didn't sound right to me... I called the guy I bought the car from and said no way that needs to be done and asked me to get the car to him and he would take care of it. I then called Switzer and spoke to the mgr again and said forget it and have the car ready for me to be picked up. He said fine... Less than 15 mins later he calls back and says the tech noticed a boost leak when he took it for a ride! I came unglued then!! Why I asked him he would let anyone drive my car if I had said no to doing any work on it!?! I was super pissed! Then I get a call from Tym saying let him finish diagnosing the car because he now said they don't have to drop the motor and thinks it's the MAF?? I'm so confused how all this has happened. It sounded to me like a way to get money?? They had my car for 2 months!! And I finally pick my car up and it was worse than when it went in!! Tym said drive it nice and easy home and when things slowed down to bring it back in a week or so to finish diagnosing... I drove home and never been so sick to my stomach that I can hear loud whistling between gears and NO BOOST! It ran like ****!! Strong fumes etc... I parked it and was in utter disbelief on what did I do??? So.... I had talked to the 2 prior owners of the car looking for any help whatsoever. Then I was told Markski had did the tune. I had called him and explained all that happened and planned on trailering the car to him. Then just 2 nights ago one of my employees decided to take a flashlight and crawled underneath the car and said holy ****! Your not going to believe this!! The boost hose was never connected! With guidance by Markski he instructed how to put it back in and connect. Then said to plug the MAF in in which they had that unplugged amongst loose nuts for a bracket that was sitting in there that could have fell out! (What kind of business treats a customers car like that??? ). I took the car for a ride and it was missing horribly and got back and Markski had said to unplug the MAF and took it for a ride and it ran great. At present... I ordered a new MAF. And it's really a shame that this all transpired. I'm not saying there not a good shop and they don't know what their doing. All I'm saying is my experience with them I would never recommend or go there again.

i am also a business owner and if someone that works for me doesn't give 100% or doesn't care about the work they are doing than its time for them to go.
most of my projects are six digits but i always welcome the small quick jobs, in an out and a quick check, cash flow is king

NO, Switzer accepting minor maintenance and doing a mediocre job is a bad idea for them as a business, end of thread
