Getting CEL P1145 & P0135 2003 996TT

I get the P1145 code every 3 days or so and the P0135 code just happened yesterday with the P1145. I used the Durametric to get the FRA and RKAT values. I need assistance interpreting the readings. I attached a snapshot of the readings.

Don't want you to think no one's going to help you.

While I responded to your post on rennlist with the following in bold I thought I'd repost it here in case maybe you lose your way and don't get to reenlist again.

P1145 - Oxygen Sensor Ahead of TWC, Bank 1 - Above Limit

P0135 - Oxygen Sensor Heater in front of TWC, Bank 1.

I can't recall if it was a P0135 or a P0134 my 2003 Turbo was triggering on a drive back from the mid-west in Jan. of 2015 but when I got back home I had all 4 sensors replaced.

Not only did the engine run a bit better the error code was gone. Might add the times the CEL came on with the error code the engine never manifested any untoward behavior.

P1145 is a bit tricky... That it shows up after some few days is normal.

Possible fault causes:
Valve lift.
Exhaust leak affecting the O2 sensor after the TWC.
Oxygen sensor.

There is a pretty involved test to eliminate (or confirm) a valve lift fault is causing the code.

Have you modified the exhaust? Has the exhaust system been off the car recently? When it was last off were the metal turbo to exhaust manifold o-rings replaced?

Given you have the P0135 error code you might just throw 4 new sensors at both error codes. And of course, if there is any possibility of an exhaust leak address that too.

I would only add that another poster offered up the idea of a broken solenoid bracket which is pretty smart thinking.

Thanks for the help... I'm hoping it's not the valve lift issue.

It doesn't have to be.

Given there is already an O2 sensor related error code, P1145 could just be explained by a bad sensor or sensors.

They wear out. As I mentioned I had an O2 sensor error code appear at around 131K miles and several times in my drive home from Barstow, CA to Livermore, CA. Around 500 miles later at home I booked the car in for new sensors. They were original at 132K miles.

The engine ran a bit better after the new sensors were installed.

If you have some engine mods done any engine mods that produce more power subject the sensors (among other things) to more wear and tear and this of course can only shorten their life.

So before I would worry about valve lift issues being the cause of the P1145 error code I'd be more likely to suspect O2 sensors past their change by date.

Or a broken solenoid bracket. Don't over look the relatively easy things to eliminate before you start ripping into the engine.
