Just as additional info: the stock 997 hood (aluminum) weighs in at 8.5kg or 18.7lbs. So using the gas struts off a 997 could be an option.

My aftermarket CF hood weighs 7.7kg or 17lbs. A 1.7lb weight savings...

Great weight savings on the hood! (And it looks good too).

On another note, its complete BS that you can't post who made it. That would be purely for information purposes as you're not selling a part. I could understand them not wanting you to post a link to the seller's site, but just listing a name should be allowed.

If you want, send me the name and I'll post it here

It is total BS and not why the other thread was removed...I thought I made it very clear in several pm exchanges why the thread was taken down and it had nothing to do with the name of the manufacturer or photos of the hood. Just to set the record straight.

So what was the real reason. I must admit I almost never read or post on here now due to the vendor bias this place has. Well I guess that is not completely true I post almost no where else either.

After my Scott the Dew,shey-tronic experience I got pretty tired of the interweeb forums!

After my Scott the Dew,shey-tronic experience I got pretty tired of the interweeb forums!

I posted that I received a shipment of hoods from Europe and described them along with the weight comparison to the OEM hood. I specifically stated that they were all sold and that I do not have any available making it clear that I was not selling any. Nowhere in the thread did I state that I am offering these up for sale. Their feathers got ruffled over that. Whatever... So it's clear, just like I stated in the original thread, the hoods were sold before I posted the thread so again, I HAVE NONE to sell nor do I intend to get any more in the future. Lol!

Novel idea, maybe before deleting people's threads the mods should contact the poster for clarification if they have any concerns. That's how I would handle it if I was sitting on the throne.

Better yet, mods, please delete this thread. I've updated the weight loss thread with the weight loss numbers so this thread serves no purpose. Thank you...

Hey Chuck, perhaps others could avoid the whole ordeal if you stated exactly what caused the thread to be deleted so they are not tempted to enter the same offending information in another thread...

Of course always two sides of every story, sorry for jumping the gun. Could you share publicly why?

The thread is on rennlist. You can read it there...

After deleting the thread Chuck sent me a PM stating he deleted it because in the first sentence of the thread I said I got a shipment of hoods in from Europe. Well, that's no lie, I did get several of these from Europe. He falsely inferred from that that I'm selling them. Had he read past that first sentence he would have realized that in fact I'm not selling them as I clearly pointed that out.

My beef with the deleting of threads is that mods should read the whole friggin post instead of jumping to false conclusions. If Chuck had an issue with wording he should have PM'd me and voiced his concerns or suggestions prior to deleting it. In all fairness Chuck offered to change the wording and put the thread back up. I declined as I don't need people editing my words. Again, the goal of the thread was to show the weight savings that can be attained via a high guality hood. The reason I didn't mention the manufacturer is because they were an absolute nightmare to deal with and I could not in good conscience recommend them to anyone.

I hate to continue to take this thread off topic but you asked...I was at fault for not reading the entire thread....the first couple paragraphs did mention a large shipment and implied they might be available....that was as far as I thought I needed to go and I removed the thread from view (the thread was never deleted and still exists) and contacted pwdrhound. We had a long discussion the result of which was he could either repost or authorize me to edit for content (I told him I would rather not do that). He said he would prefer to repost. You have asked how can you avoid a situation like this...basically, it looked like pwdrhound was offering multiple new items as a non sponsor but if I had read further he did indeed say he had none for sale and didn't like dealing with the manufacturer...so, a lesson to me to read the entire thread even if I don't have the time...and perhaps a lesson to put disclaimers up front....hope this puts the matter to bed and this thread can get back on topic

Thank you for clarifying Chuck...

Don't ask me to post details as I did that earlier but everything was deleted by the moderators. In any case, the weight savings is substantial. I will add the numbers to the weight loss thread..

Thats a great weight reduction .. at least post some pics without mention any producer name :) would love to see

The vendor I used in England is unfortunately out of business Fadi. For hoods I'm using a company in the US that provides CF parts for PMNA.

I'm at 3160 (1433kg) with 3/4 tank, CF hood, and inconel exhaust, shaved carpets, A/C delete, sunroof delete, roll bar, etc. I can't see getting to 1400 without gutting the interior or other parts of the car if you wanna keep it dual purpose.

thx will have another look, considering also a getty wing, but hope to find smth built in Europe as first option
