Turbo back exhaust installation advised needed

Hi there,

I've just purschased a used turbo back exhaust system for my 996 turbo and would like some advise on what items I need to get for the installation.

I'm thinking of getting new O2 lambda sensors rather than trying to reuse the existing ones installed on the original exhaust.

Believe I need to get 2 sealing ring gaskets that sit between the cats and turbos

Also I believe the original nuts and bolts that connect the cats to the turbos will be too rusted or perished to reuse and need to be changed.

What specific nuts and bolts do I need the porsche original items are too expensive for what they are - your advise guys would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

You've got most of it correct. If I was doing it over again I would have replaced all 4 O2 sensors when I installed the exhaust. I ended up breaking both of the downstream O2s when I removed them from the factory exhaust. I picked up new high quality lock nuts from 034motorsport because they are smaller 10mm size and very high quality.

Pick up the Victor Reinz ring gaskets. Same as OEM, and much cheaper.

I also chewed up a couple of the studs during removal and just went to local ACE and picked up some new carburized steel automotive studs in the 1.25 metric thread pitch.

Good luck!!

what brand of aftermarket exhaust are you going to install? i just purchased a 2002 turbo 39000 ,iles, tip, that has an AP ti system installed and i am interested in other owners opinions about sound any performance difference etc. my car has the IPD intake upgrade and ecu flash as well as new inter-coolers bigger turbos injectors so I am not be in the apples to apples category of sound comparison. thanks Robby H

It's a 9ff exhaust , not fitted yet so cannot comment on sound build quality looks very good.

What are your thoughts guys in stainless steel nuts and bolts?
