Why can't the aftermarket reflash the 996's ECU through the OBD II port like the dealer , or by the owner in the case of cars like the Corvette C5 ?

Stephen, what do you call that piece of equipment that you have that can change the parameters (grids) of the ECU as you drive it?

One of the reasons they cant reflash through OBD is cause GIAC tuners install an encryptor (soldered on ECU board) to protect someone from copying their files and to prevent the dealer or someone else from overwriting your several thousand $$ GIAC software....
