Dodged a bullet . . . 991
I spent a good part of Saturday (read: all day), researching the 997 Turbo . . . Looking at the differences between the 997.1 vs 2 . . . PDK in the 2009+ . . . drooling over the updated styling (interior and exterior). Then on Sunday, I just got off my butt and washed my car and took it for a spin . . . That car just doesn't disappoint; plus, it is set up just how I want it. I guess I just need to write this down and refer back to my own post from time to time. Undoubtedly, I will need to do something a 997, my 996 costs me nothing and that extra $25k can just continue to sit in the bank, HaHa-- Thanks for listening to my rambling, KH

no, i completely agree. i had the same experience with driving it this weekend and i have no need at all for more "raw power" ( as my 'ol friend iggy used to say
) than is provided by the 996t. it's exactly where i want/need in terms of power, reliability, and its ability to get my old jaded heart racing.it's the 991.2 c2S that i want w pdk! for use as a daily for the rare occasions i am stuck in la traffic. particularly now that their ( 991.2 carerra's w turbo's ( as opposed to "turbo carerra's" ) performance capabilities closely approximate what ours were when the 996t was introduced, it seems like the perfect dd for a guy like me. with no baggage
lolsince having turbo's on 911's i have managed to avoid base models and can't afford base model porsche GT iterations! .. but the 991.2 c2s is within $ reach and i have no one at home to tell me it's a profligate expense
though it might well be!( sorry for rambling back

My wife's friend and her hubby just picked up a '13 Turbo S Cab, I believe that's the last iteration of the 997.2. I'm looking forward to checking it out, but it's certainly not going to be a catalyst for me to make an change.
I'm pretty happy with my unrefined, noisy, race gas swilling MAFless Sambo tuned 'base model' Turbo.
does anyone think they wouldnt enjoy a 17 c2S w pdk for daily driving and keeping the 996tt for boulder smashing? lol.
seems to me, it combines the *best* of both worlds for 911's. of course it'd be a hefty monthly payment but.. ya know. life.

Completely agree . . . I have my Yukon, for haulin' kiddos around and skiing, the 996T for fun (and haulin' kids), the IS250 for the GF (would like to move her to an EV at some point), maybe even a PDK Caymen for the commute . . . You know, a "cheap" car. HaHa
ha i get it! we are of like mind and your thread is very timely, as i'm really giving this some serious consideration. but it can't be an 991.1 ( drove a cpl, not crazy about it but "sport mode throttle blips" are cool..) its gotta be the newly turbo'd 991.2 c2! the reworked targa which i can stare at for days, also reminds me of the 911sc of my youth which was also a company car
there's something so american about having a 911 on company lease
i'm waiting on someone to take the drive off "hit" and maybe grab a low mileage 997.2 that maybe their mid-life crisis lasted only a few thousand miles lol.. and expense it. well, that and a newly lowered corp tax rate
but yes.. we MUST both keep the 996 turbo. i couldn't bear the daily "ping" of rock chips on a new one!

Soooo . . . .
I feel like I have to come here to confess a very unexpected weekend . . . I know that I said that I am happy with my 996 and that there was no reason to look any further than what was in my garage . . . Turns out, I had some time on my hands this weekend and I fell in love. I don't even LIKE black cars . . . Well, that isn't completely true; I love them and hate them
May I introduce my 2013 (not a typo) PDK (gasp), she is INCREDIBLE. Nope, not as raw as my 996 and less engaging than my 6 speed, but I took it over 17 into Watsonville yesterday (gymnastics meet) and it was nothing short of amazing. Thanks for the help over these past couple years, I'm sure I will pop over from time to time. I do hope this stays in my garage for a long stint

I was lazy, I traded it in and took a bath on it, what an idiot. Can't beat the ease of a trade-in, but wow-- Dumb. KH
Negotiated in a full Clear Armor on the 2013, so I should have a little protection from this . . . With a PDK, I do expect to drive it

Oh geez, given when you bought and the market now you should have been even. Sorry to hear that. I bet they put it up for sale for mid $50s.
They appeared to be psyched to have it, but that could have all just been BS . . . It is a fun car, no doubtOh well, it's only money-- I will just have to print more
