Video: RUF RT12...

In German, but a very nice video and nice driving. Not sure I'd take my RT12 to the gravel pit but...

Google Video: RUF RT12

And here is my test drive:

Part 1

Part 2

Performance - RUF RT12 650 hp (RWD):

0-60 mph: 3.15 seconds
0 - 100 mph: 6.62 seconds
0 – 124 mph: 9.7 seconds. (0 - 200 km/h)
¼ mile: 11.0 @ 134 mph (216 km/h)
Highest speed reached: 350 km/h.
Consider the fact that the car was on Pirelli P Zero Rosso street tires.
Front: 255/35/ZR19 Rear: 305/30/ZR19
Measured with GPS 100 Hz, 1 person in the car.

Car measured by Road & Track.

Thanks for the video! I love that car but as with all RUF products it is way overpriced!

997 S $100,000
Engine Mods 50,000
Suspension Mods 10,000
Wheels 10,000
Interior 10,000
Exterior 20,000
R&D expense/car 25,000
========
total $225,000

How much does RUF charge?? OVER $300,000!!!

No thanks.

Budman, yes I would tend to agree. However, what out there for $300k can approach those sorts of numbers, has a OEM VIN and a 2 year warranty? A stage 5 turbo yes, but reliability becomes a bit of an issue and it's all on you if it breaks.

Where are you getting those figures from?

Engine mods for 650 hp is around $90-100,000.

Not from many US Tuners. I am saying it would cost a whole lot less to buy your 997 S and send it to someone like Evo or Imagine Auto who could give 650 to 700 hp, suspension, interior and exterior upgrades for probably $200,000 versus over $300,000 for RUF.

The difference is, in 10 years, your Ruf will still be worth that much, your EVO much less than 100k.

Ruf vin number cars retain their value...as a CTR or CTR2 will demonstrate !

Those numbers will definitely Ruf up your pocket! Just imagine $90-100,000 for parts and install alone!

I would just make one comment about your figures Buddy. The RT12 is based on a 3.6 litre 996TT engine and gearbox, that is then converted to 650bhp and fitted to the car. That means for your comparison you would have to buy a 997S, then buy a complete 996TT engine and ancillaries (turbos, intercoolers etc) and gearbox and then tune it. The $50,000 would not even buy a new stock 996TT engine. Then you have to work out how to integrate a 996TT engine, wiring and electronics into a 997........

There's a lot more to the RT12 that it looks at first glance. Unfortunately some press articles have incorrectly stated that the RT12 has a 3.8S based engine or assumed it. As stated, the 530bhp and 560bhp options on the RT12 are 3.6 litres, only the 650 is 3.8. The 3.8S engine is only strong enough for about 450-500bhp.

Oh yes and some of their 996TT engines have GT3 heads on them....

Guy
