KW Coilover suspensions
Just bought a set of KW Coilover suspension version 3 for my TT.
Are there anyone here who runs their 996TT/GT2 och KV Coilovers?
Are you satisfied with them?
Has it been difficult to set them up properly?
Any pictures or DIY?
Thanks!!

Pss9 is really light track use only and motons, well $$$.

on my E46 M3 I had 3 different suspensions installed. H&R coilovers, Bilstein PSS9's and KW V2's. The KW were far nicer than the others. On the TT I had PSS9's and hated them as much as I did in the M3, if not more. Was planning on installing a set of KW, but never got around to it before I sold the car.
With the Bilstein PSS9's you are limited in a few ways that can really hinder the flexibility a coilover system was designed for in the first place and that is fine tuning.
Dampener settings:
Bilstein PSS9 = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
KW V2/3 = 1% - 100%
100 settings to 9
Ride Height:
Bilstein PSS9 = on bump stops when nearing the Gt2 ride height. Gt2 ride height/ slightly lower is where you want to be at. Track tested and Porsche approved.
KW V2/V3: allows you to go lower than GT2 height or higher.
Rebound:
KW V3 allows you to adjust rebound settings
In summary, the PSS9's are very limited and do not ride all that great even with their conservative "street friendly settings".
I did speak with Bilstein directly about this issue and they are aware of it. They will remove the internal bumpstops if you send them back to the factory, but the warranty will be gone.
I would definitely recommend giving the KW V3's a try.

The KW V3 is an awsome system. Once you get the settings you are comfortable at, you will be VERY pleased. Manthey Racing have KW suspensions that are specially built for them . For street and track use. Last year, Peterson/White Lightning went with the same set up on their 996 RSR's with great results.
Good choice. Have fun.

KW is a very good suspension system. I have installed lots o' shocks, they rate with Bils, and the rest. the version 3 shock is nice, and not too difficult to set up, but experimentation is required. Very high quality product.

There is someone on the Audiworld site, saying that the reservoirs on the v3's have a tendency to break/sheer off. I have never heard this, but has people all worked up. Just wondering if anyone has heard this before?

To all:
Thanks for the massive respons!
I'm quite sure that KW V3 will do the job for me...reading your replies, no doubt about it..
Many thanks!!
To Johnfromjersey:
But doesn't that make adjusting the coilover very difficult?
I understand the possibilities, but can I as a amateur adjust them when I am on the track without any problem?

McBurn,
Your car looks great, what suspension do you have installed for the pictures on your site? X73?
I installed the V3's a few months ago and am very happy with them. The installer had a lot of Porsche suspension installation experience - he did a great job. I asked him to leave the factory suggested damper setting and lower the car to roughly a quarter inch gap between the top of the tire and the fender lip.
Since then I've tried increasing both compression and rebound damping. The ride is now very firm and I will back them off for street use but I would like to get the fenders rolled first just to be safe.
I have never tried anything else besides the stock setup so I can't comment on the PSS9's or any of the others.
Just like Buddy, I'd like to learn more about the suspension and I look forward to hearing your impression of the KDUBs.
Matt

Thanks!!
My car is 100% stock when it comes to the suspension.
If it hade been equiped with X73 I'm not sure that I would have gone for the KW V3...maybe.. ;-)
I'm really looking forward to the first trackday this spring!
