Engine Bay Liner

The outer shiny black layer of my factory sound deadening / heat insulator / engine bay liner has flaked off exposing the yellow open-cell foam... is there any tried and true way to refinish this so my bay will look factory fresh after I reinstall the motor? Should I replace it instead? I'd rather not ignore it... It's the kind of thing that will always drive me crazy.
