what is the advantage to having the wheel spacer option on the 997 model series?

Pushes the wheels out to edges to make the wheels sit flush with fender....

These are effective in building more profit margin into the sale.
Just curious........how much for how thick?

if u're referring the factory option when u order the car then forget it. Porsche just want to make more $ that's all. i believe they're 5mm only.
