I had to chime in over at MBworld and set the Porsche hater straight, I ran a C6Z in my "slow 996TT" and destroyed it.
I own both, and love both. When you get to this price point, I think it is purely about preferrence. I think that Porsche lovers are a bit more brand loyal though. Let's face it, if you own a 996TT, you could buy a high HP Benz and vice-versa. Both have their strong points, it's all about what you want for yourself.
BTW...I ran 11.67 in my 5000lb S600 RennTech, not too shabby for an old man, grocery getter.

merc are great weekday drivers,very fast in a straight line, my porsche is a great weekend end car that does it all good. i think the mercedes is a better panty dropper
