Fred,
I knew you had problems with the S Car Go carbon fiber intakes. I understand they were shattered in one place due to whoever installed your suspension not installing a lower lock nut which allowed your suspension to rotate or swivel, shattering the carbon fiber and destroying your turbo(s). This was not an S Car Go problem because they were not the ones who installed the suspension incorrectly. I believe S Car Go made things right to your satisfaction because there was no warning about possible problems with a faulty suspension installation. I understand all new sales from S Car Go now come with written instructions which include just such a warning. I would not install this carbon fiber intake without having read these installation instructions.
If there is something else I would like to hear about it. They definitely have the potential to increase the power of the 996tt by quite a margin.

Chad first of all the 1st time it cracked, S Car Go DID the installation. The second time I called Rob and he said you must put Lock Tight and have 2 colars. We had 2 colars on but NOT ONCE did he say put on Lock Tight. So I simply want to warn others that if those Carbon Intakes get touched in any way shape or form, WATCHOUT. Those carbon pieces get sucked into your engine and Destroy the propelers. So I am going to get a product that is not made of carbon, so just in case anything happens, no Carbon Pieces will be sucked in the engine. To me if anything happens twice, it clearly shows this is NOT A SAFE Product.
This is my own opinion that I want to share before they make a buying decision.
Sorry Chad but you are too biased toward S Car Go to give others an independent opinion.

Fred,
Your above post implies S Car Go installed your suspension. It is my understanding they did not. Will you please clear this up. In addition, I know of no one but you who had this problem and many other tuners are currently buying and installing because of their potential to add power. The problem as I understood was the defective suspension installation. Again, did not S Car Go Racing make it right with you regarding your damaged turbo's.
I have over 5K miles on my car with no problems with these intakes. You are correct, a suspension where your shock spins or rotates will hit the carbon fiber and cause damage. Anyone installing them should be aware of this.

Chad, you are correct that S Car Go did not install my suspension but that is Not the point. They installed the Intakes with my suspension already on. If they knew what they were doing the first time, they would have told me to put an extra colar and put Lock Tight on. So it was their fault the first time and they admitted it, reason why they compensated me for the damaged turbo's.
Chad, all I am doing is informing people of possible problems I have had not once but twice. People, when buying products should get thoughts from other people. Hence that is why there are always reviews done. You have had great experiences with S Car Go while I have not. I just want to let future buyers listen to what I went through and the buyer can then come to THEIR own conclusion.
I, like msindi would be very interested to hear who else is satisfied with the S Car Go products . I personally only know of you and Alex who entered in the shootout that are happy customers. I have had several tuners, past distributors who had me remove S Car Go parts and don't recommend them anymore.
So besided you and Alex who else is an S Car Go customer?

And thank God for that Alex #1. I didn't need any other Alex's coming after me with a pistol....
So help me out here. I am kind of new to the 996TT board. By reading this, does CJV have some relationship or financial interest in S-Car-Go.? If so, why wasn't his car at the Shootout? I read something about fuel injectors, but come on now.. If not, why does he defend them so strongly with info that would generally only be available to folks inside the company?

viperbob,
You stated: "By reading this, does CJV have some relationship or financial interest in S-Car-Go.? If so, why wasn't his car at the Shootout?"
The relationship is I have been to three tuners since July 2001. S Car Go Racing has simply been the best. Many of their products were developed on my car. Some like the cf intakes had problems. Fred's car happened to be one of the first installs after they were developed for my car. I was reporting everything I was doing as I was doing it. I no longer do this so as to avoid others plunging in with the same consequences as Fred experienced. It is not common for any 996tt suspension to rotate or swival. Fred had a very poor installation ( as evidenced by the degree to which his suspension was rotating, plain dangerous and unsafe))which resulted the damages. It is my belief S Car Go Racing had never seen what a poor suspension installation would do. They learned and the result was installation instructions warning of this possible problem and what to do to avoid this problem. The fact remains this intake can result in superior hp gains. It is also a fact S Car Go Racing made it right with Fred. That alone says much about S Car Go Racing.
In answer to your next question I do not now nor have I ever had a financial interest in S Car Go Racing.
Regarding my reason for not entering the shootout. The main reason was GIAC. The story has already been told, but I will tell it to you again. Originally, I put together the idea of the shootout. I was working with Dave Colman, the feature writer for Excellence. All cars were ready except the EVO/PES Stage V. I gave them about six extra weeks to ready the car. First I understood it was motor work delay. Then I understood the car was damaged and required body work. Then Buddy's car came along and I decided to invite Buddy. The event was set for November 13 and 14th. Right before the event, Excellence decided to cancel and Sharkster took over with European Car. About five weeks before the shootout I discovered my car had the ability to develop 1.7 bar, however we also discovered the Porsche ECU has a code(s) which closed the throttle body down if it sensed 1.3 bar or above. I looked at GIAC's website and noticed they advertised the ability to add or deduct codes on the Porsche ECU. I called and e-mailed two GIAC representatives and asked if they could do this work. They sent the request to GIAC and the response came back the same from both representatives. The response was GIAC could figure out the code and eliminate or raise the bar restriction. They would be happy to do this work, but not until after the shootout was over (because my car was in the shootout). I was told there was another dealer who GIAC does alot of business with and they were also in the shootout and I could figure it out from there.
Remember, the response was GIAC could figure it out. Up to that point no one was doing this and it had to be figured out. Funny how the big secret immediately before the shootout was the boost increase above 1.3 bar.
Bottom line is, I would not have my car dyno'ed on a GIAC dyno due to the way I was treated. I have always freely shared what I learned about the 996tt motor with anyone who was interested. I guess it was too much to expect the same of others. I had an earlier conversation with one GIAC representative and was asked by him if he could talk to Dave Colman. The reason given was he wanted to know how the article was going to be written. He said he did not want to compete against my car, instead he wanted his mods described as to what was done and highlite the economical costs. Sharkster once said to me, judging from the forums everyone else was competiting for second . I know nothing is guaranteed, but after hearing about the results my opinion is the car had an extremely good chance to make a sweep. Yes, my car is currently running lean, however not so lean as to have prevented it from successfully competiting. By the event Protomotive remedied the 1.3 bar limitation.
I choose not to compete. I'm sure some people would believe I overreacted. They are entitled to their opinion. I respect theirs and I hope they can respect mine.

Chad, if I may be frank with you? I must say I enjoy reading your threads. They are very informative and I will never be able to know as much as you.
But until your car enters one of these events, people simply won't believe your cars capabilities. You can keep on documenting everything but UNTIL people see your car and actually wins an event that will SHUT UP everyone.
Like you stated " I chose not to compete". For whatever reasons they may be, you still had a chance to show up and you didn't. Therefore myself and like most other members I'm sure, you can't talk about what you could have done. You had your opportunity to show all ouf us 6speed members and you chose not too. End of Story.
I am looking forward to the next shoot with your car.
Fred
