Value of 996TT increasing?
A buddy of mine who sells high-end used cars for a living was telling me today that he's noticed a shift on 996TT prices.
As we all know...prices were dropping steadily for a while there...and you can still find some great deals on some high mileage cars (although some of those cars are suspect), but he was saying that he's having a very difficult time finding *nice* low-to-mid mileage cars at the same prices he saw just a month or so ago. He said as soon as the un-camoflauged pics of the 997TT came out...996TT prices have gone up an average of $5k-$10k nationwide (mostly in the 2001 to 2003 range).
Have you guys seen this as well?
I'm currently out of state for work and haven't been following anything car related. Thanks.

I am currently on the lookout for one (Guards red) and have seen the exact opposite. Once, off lease 996TT's start coming in on trades on the 997TT, the market will be even more saturated with them, which will continue to make the prices drop.
Remember guys, a used 996tt at 65-80k is still an awful lot of car for the money. Nice cars with low mileage and good records and or mods should always be higher that lowest priced examples. Sales tax on new amounts to thousands of dollars on 100 plus thousand dollar cars. Individual cars from private sellars with some extras should hold the 70-75 line on 01 cars for a while longer. My car is an 01 silver on gray tip with 480psi flash and EP2, pss9 corner balanced, strosek wing, cargraphic fron lip (on way) and roock wheels with 235 front and 315 rear with nice lips and offsets. At 14000 miles I would hope it is still recognized as reasonably new and bring some nominal surplus over an "ok, or average car. I for one think the 997TT has some pretty impressive acceleration and does not look bad at all. Ecept for the through bumper exhaust.

I definitely agree about that. alot of people looking for a turbo on ebay, cars.com, autotrader, or whatever publication flock to the least expensive and work from there. They start at the cheapest price and try to rationalize what they want for that price, of course if it is not met, they go up a few dollars. When I was looking, I knew I wanted low miles @ 5k or less, no paintwork, and excellent condition with no dents scratches or dings, and knew that would come at a premium, but today I have no regrets about my car. I enjoy her everyday I drive her.
On the other hand, if I had a budget today of 60k or less, I would look for a car that would fit that mold within my budget regardless if had small issues or high miles. Would I drive an 04/05 M3 (kinda like an *******....everyone has one) or drive a Porsche 911 Turbo. Let me think about this! Anyway, hopefully these cars maintain their value, since I don't want to start seeing 18 year old kids graduating from high school pulling up next to me at stop lights, since their parents bought them a graduating present since they actually graduated. Just my thoughts.

One month is too short a window to make generalizations. Don't expect a big end of lease 996 for 997 thing b/c most 996 was not leased. The good cars are getting eaten up and supply is likely to go down not up. Anyone looking to get a car should be looking now and grab the right one b/c we all know what happens when you try and time the market. Just my $0.02
i don't see how. i have noticed more cars being offered for sale with the pending arrival of the 997TT. i am not a big fan of the 996 styling and i don't think time will treat this model well.
