What would you rather have?
SL55 and save up for other mods....ecu upgrade, pulley, cat by pass pipes, after market mufflers, air filters , cams and so on
Why?
Love the insane torque, insane sound of engine and exhaust
hard top
Could be a gt and a high performance sports car any time you want!
Comfortable
but also the 996 could be used as a daily driver!
Depends on you , you could test drive both of them if you want

The dry sump race-derived GT1 block in the TT is better suited as a platform for big big power

Secondly the motor is dry sump like the new 997 GT3?

They all use essentially the same engine.
The 997C2, C2S and C4S, however, all use a wet-sump 3.8L engine.

Look at my sig and you know my vote. Agree, 996t motor is a better platform for high hp but the 997S platform (body, chassis, susp, brakes, tranny) is a major improvement right out of the box, which means you can put all your money into a s/c and you are good to go and you'll be as fast or faster than the 997 GT3 and the 997 turbo.. at least I think so if Evo's #'s are correct. Make sure you drive both cars so you can compare the ride. IMO the ride/feel of the 997 is superior over the 996. Good luck!
