It is just a thought, but it might be nice to rent a car transport truck or two, then bring all the mid west and east coast cars to Pebble Beach where we can drive the amazing 17 mile drive. SoCal people can drive up (7-8 hour drive) and we could have a "national meet." If you have never heard of Pebble Beach, then you are missing out. I have been to Monaco, Italy, France, the Caribbean, and Hawaii, and nothing compares to Pebble Beach. I know that the Lodge at Pebble Beach has group discounts and that we could all go golfing too when we get tired of driving. Don’t forget Big Sur too (50 miles south), the roads there are wild!

FYI: June 18-20

Buddy,

I saw that you mentioned June 18-20 in an earlier post as a possible date for the meet. This is the USGP weekend.

If you are looking for a national meet during the summer, Miami is probably not the best place. The weather in S. Florida during the summer is miserable. A central location would be best, but while it is central it is still pretty far for a lot of folks. Perhaps the admins could do an analysis on where most members are from. I would think that most are from the northeast (NY & NJ), southeast (FL & GA), southwest (TX), and the west (CA).

Perhaps this event could be done at the same time as Porsche Parade. This comeing parade is going to be held somewhere in Texas, not to sure about the date.

Atlanta would be a really good option. You've got a major city with plenty of hotels and good restaurants, mountain drives (little cousins of TOD) less than an hour away, and the Petite Le Mans race at Road Atlanta you could tie in with (however, I think it's in September - but there are Porsches on the track!).

You may also want to consider Birmingham, AL. The best road course built in the US opened last year, Barber Motorsports Park www.barbermotorsports.com It has an incredible museum and is home of th Porsche Driving Experience. You all might be able to chip in and rent the track for a day or two or just tie in with www.porschedriving.com (you could probably rent Road ATL as well, or tie in with a Panoz racing school event as well)

What about Indy, when the Formula 1 race is here? That race is June 20th.

Thanks for taking the lead Bud man. I would love to go, so long as it is centralized. No way will I go to Miami. Way to far for me and summer is not best time to be there. I would think, something in like Tennessee or maybe northern Texas is most centralized local. BTW, Atlanta is an armpit, no offense to anyone, that is just my opinion.

I agree. Porsche parade and 6speedonline meet. Texas has my vote. Although Pebble Beach is a close second
