I installed the FadSpeed Medium a week or so ago. I love it. Not to loud, sounds mean and angry.

Thanks all for the great comments!!
best of both worlds...

loud and quiet, no resonance, 39HP gain.

Here again are some exhaust clips of my Cargraphic exhuast.

Be sure to right click, "save copy as", and save to your desktop. Play the video from there or they will appear choppy and won't sound right:

which one to get then?

FAbspeed loud or cargraphics loud ? I personally like the agressive sound that makes ppl scared of pulling up next to you it makes it sound mean which is how a porsche should sound in my opinion. Any one have any sound clips of the milltek. Its definatley in between these 3 but cant decide.I am gonna be going all out on my car hopefully in the future with a 700+ whp 996tt so I definatley want the best exhaust. Nothing crazy that costs 15k though thats nuts Thanks guys

In the book "Forced Induction and performance tuning" by A. Graham Bell, it has a very interesting chapter on Turbo exhaust systems in relation to power output. (Page 270)

Engine Size .......Exhaust Size
1.3-1.6(L) ..........2.25 - 2.50 " (57.2-63.5mm)
2.0-2.3(L) ..........2.75 - 3.00" (69.9-76.2mm)
2.5-3.0(L) ..........3.5 or 2x2.5" (88.9 or 2x63.5mm)
3.5-4.0(L) ........4.0 or 2x2.75 (101.6 or 2x69.9mm)
5.0-5.7(L) .........2x3.0 (76.2mm)

He then goes on to say, "The above sizes apply to road engines developing 120-150 hp/L. Competition engines developing 200 - 250 hp/L will use pipe sized 0.5-1.0" (12.7mm-25.4mm) larger.

Thus, if you are looking to produce 700 WHP, (875 cranck assuming a 20% AWD loss), you are looking at approximately 243 hp/L. This suggests that your exhaust piping diameter should be in the range of 82.6mm - 95.3mm.

Your ONLY option, without having a custom exhaust built (like Craig did) is to wait for the new Europipe 84mm pipe system that KPV (Ken) is currently beta-testing.

I'm currently waiting with you!

Mike

i have a 9ff switchable exhaust that will be for sale next week.. as far as i am concerned, switchable is the only way to go.. quite or loud, you pick what you want to hear and when, with the flip of a switch..

i really don't know which generation it is. . it is between 2 or 3 years old with maybe 5000 miles on it... my mechanic, Sol at Perfect Power, (Libertyville, IL) sold it to me and installed it. i sold my 2002 996 turbo last week and he took it off.. as a Porsche race shop, he only sells the best and i must say, though not inexpensive, it is very well put together... my next Turbo will have the same exhaust system... because once you have one, you won't go back.. ( i am now trying to find one for a SL55) if you want an exhaust that can be switched with a touch of a button, i don't know of many that are better... i will clean it up next week and post some pics...

Stephen at Imagine Auto

If you are looking for some good used exhaust systems stephen has them as well as many other quality used parts. I know because he has several of mine. Seems like every year I am changing something on my turbo.

Raza has me very interested in this thread now. I have heard Europipe and Fabspeed seem to be the most popular exhaust systems for 996TT. Can anyone share some sound clips for either one? I would love to hear these two systems to compare them. Thanks in advance!
