Oil pressure fluctuations ?

Almost ever since I've had my TT I've noticed that the indicated oil pressure can vary by about 0.5.
That is at idle it'll sometime jump from 2.0 down to 1.5 and then back again. It even does this 0.5 jump when cruising and the oil pressure is indicating much higher 3-4.0
Is this normal ?

I'd expect the variation during warm up, but I see the same variation even after a long drive and everything is up to temp.

FYI I'm having some mods done next week and I don't want to give the dealership an excuse to deny warranty if it turns out to be something serious.

Any comments / thoughts ?

Thanks

Unlikely it is an actual pressure fluctuation with no engine speed change. Check the oil sending unit connections.

Yeah have the dealer check the sending unit. Mine would drop to 0 (kinda scary) the dealer replaced the sending unit worked great after.

My sending unit failed yesterday. Very scary. Apparently sometimes during diverter valve install the connection gets damaged. Just a fragile piece maybe.

Although it can vary like that with changes in rpms ie idle to WOT obviously goes from low to high but your trouble at a constant rpm seems like a sender unit problem like most have said. Assume your oil level is adequate!

Oil pressure

Yeah - most likely the sender unit (hopefully), not going to get stressed about it and yes my oil level is fine. In fact I have a record of mileage versus oil level / added since the engine was replaced - currently at 1263 miles per quart.
I'll have the dealer take a look at it when it next goes in for a 12 month service (anytime now).

Oil consumption wise, it'll be interesting to see what happens after the mods.... Probably not much.

Thanks again for the advice.

Tim
