To comment on its sound? I record music from my ipod onto a cd (not mp3) and I wonder if the sound will be the same or worse if I do a direct feed from the Ipod cable to the Alpine stereo? Or is that Ipod integration that Eric talks about is coming soon a better thing to wait for? thanks!

I had an ipod connector on the back of my alpine in an Acura RSX S. It worked well and sound was quite good.

I have an Alpine unit in one of my other cars (Chevy), and it works very well. I take a 1/8 inch stereo headphone connector to a dual RCA input on the back of the Alpine and play throught the auxillary input. Most of my Ipod music is recorded on >192 kb/sec and so while not actual CD quality, is acceptably close.

Regards

will sound quality improve with time using some other alternative? I have a 2001 (no dilemna like the '03s and higher turbos).

If you have a 2001 like mine, what I have done is disconnected the CD changer and ran a line from the CD player input to the Ipod. When I hit the CD switch, the music plays through the Ipod. It works very well and only cost me about $10 in cables from RadioShack and about less than an hour running it through the fire wall....

hmm...thanks. But I am horrible at doing stuff like that. I'll try to find someone to do it for me and just pay them.

Yes, as you get older your hearing gets worse and everything sounds the same.
