How bad is the paint? I am assuming it is not very apparant but is definately noticable when looked at closer. If this is the case, I would say you are not blowing this out of proportion. I think requesting them to take the car back is a fair trade as long as they can source and sell you another used 996tt at a discount. I hope this mess works out for you. Unwind it. A repainted tt will cost you about 10k, unless you find a sucker.
