My Car is acting up !!!!!

I started to have this problem about a month ago. I will try to start the car and it will not crank up !!!! I will try a couple more times and after a few tries, the car will start. I guess the starter was giving away. Then, this morning, when I tried to start the car, all kind of noises from the starter !!!! All the dash lights will come up blinking, the windows will come up and down by itself !!!!!!! Can the car exhibit all kind of electrical malfunctions from having a bad starter???

What's going on?, car won't start. !!!

Are you sure it is the starter. It may be a bad battery contact and you are not getting the correct amps to turn the car over and making the ecu think it is not getting enough voltage. I would try to disconnect and reconnect the battery and go from there. Also you may have a battery with some bad cells and may only be feeding the car 8-10 volts. Best of luck!

Maybe the battery? The window thing may blow this theory, but I've had starters make all sorts of noise when the battery was low/shot. I'll leave it to the experts on this board, but the battery would be the first thing that I check.

My car did the exact same thing and it turned out to be a loose battery cable.

How funny...I have the exact same problem. I read this post earlier as I was charging up the battery in my 996TT. Went back to start and nothing......same problem. Bought a new battery and all is good.

Glad to hear it was just the battery. What did they do to adjust the clutch?

Ever have a battery go dead before? Heh.

The batteries used in the 996 are pretty bad. When your new battery goes bad, and it will, I'd recommend a non Porsche alternative like Interstate.
One thing a lot of people overlook though on these Porsche batteries is you need to regularly check the amount of fluid in them.

I agree 100% about the OEM batteries. When I bought my car 2 years ago with only 5k on it, I had to replace the battery within months of ownership. I ended up with an Interstate battery which I know would not do me wrong. Plus it was only about $75 versus whatever the OEM costs.

I will be picking up the car today. When I called the dealer, they just told me that they replaced the battery and that they adjusted the clutch- Maybe at the pedal ?????
The weird thing is that the car will be ok for a week or two, then it will act up a couple of times and then ok again ( I guess it was cycling).
I though it was a check free battery !!!!!!!
