I just intalled mintex red box pads after finishing my stock pads.

i left the stock vibration dampers and springs...wasnt hard to get them off the stock pads.

anyway, the car stops well (after i broke the brake pads in) when its dry outside.
feels like stock.

however when i stop in the rain, its horrible.
if i slam the brakes at say 70-80 mph, the brakes grab initially, slow the car a bit down, but then they get very mushy. feels like the car wont stop.

i cant remember how the stock pads were in the rain, however i know for a fact that it wasnt this pad.
can anyone help me out here with some advice?

is it that the mintex pads are just bad in the rain.

(another forum member told me he had a similar problem with these pads).

is this a normal occurance.
any thoughts will be appreciated. This feels extrememly uncomfortable, driving a powerful car in the rain, that cannot stop the right way.

 

well that is not how a standard TT brakes in the rain......soooooo.......guess I'll go with the different pads. You only changed one variable and got a different result. Sorry to hear that but good to know about those pads, I have heard mixed reviews as well.

 

car stops great when its dry, however is inexcusable when wet. i have new mPS2's all around... (which btw stop the car better than the crap stock pirellis)

is their a reason to why a pad wont stop well in the wet? it is just the compound its made of?

i guess the conclusion should be that mintex pads are horrible for a 911tt.

I will switch back to stock and report to see if the problem went away...just to confirm and make sure no one purchases these...

 

My experience is that the stock red calipers/steel rotors and stock pads will require longer stopping distances in the wet (it seemed as if a thin film of water would get created on the rotor and the heat would need to be generated to remove it (ie apply the brakes). I now have PCCB's on this car and there is no (NONE) of the wet braking issues I experienced with the stock reds and steelies. It may also be that the pads you have have made the stock red/steelie setup a little worse??? In the rain just leave yourself room and always give a good hard brake, release then another hard brake to stop the car - that is what worked for me on the reds/steelies. Good luck!!

 

get rid of those pads!

Pagid oranges for track (and street if you dont mind the squeak),
stock for street

both are great in dry, just as good in wet.
