Dilemma 996 TT or 997 S?

Hey guys I have this dilemma between either going for a 996 TT or going for the 997 Carrera S. I know its gonna be much easier for the TT to make power, but also at the same time the 997 carrera S is brand new, and we all know the feeling of a brand new car, and also the performance is not too shabby. Either one that I get is going to be pretty much my nights and weekend car, ill track it probably from time to time, but i just wanted to get an idea of what you guys would suggest from your point of views.

That feeling unfortunately is the minute-to-minute devaluation of new cars not called Ferraris.

People ask me this from time to time, and my feeling is while the NA 997 is a very fine sportscar, ANY TT is a legend on asphalt.

Stock for stock I find the 997S much more fun to drive (because of the RWD) but the potential of the 996TT is just amazing. For less than 1k you can convert it to RWD with Porsche OEM parts and power upgrades just make it very tempting. I would spend my money on a TT or GT3 although the 997 looks that much better.

I think the GT1 devived engine answers all the questions for itself... The 997S engine costs 16k or so while not even used 996TT engines sell for less than 20k...

So you guys still think its worth it to buy a used 02 or 03 996 TT lets say with about 15 or 20k miles on it rather than a brand new 2007 Carrera S?

Depends on what you plan to do modding wise, and how badly you need a long warranty!

You can buy a 996TT with about 10K miles for 80K or less if look real hard.

If you have never driven a turbo, the 997 would probably be a fine car to own. But, once you get a taste of the turbo driving experience it is hard to get excited about the 997. Having a new car is nice but I think you can find a 996 turbo that has been very well taken care of and in that almost new condition for the same amount or less than a new 997 carrera S.
