This may be a silly question but what causes the burple sound when you down shift into 2nd and then more noticeable into 1st to engine brake? The sound is very noticiable with my GT2 exhaust. TIA

You downshift into first? To brake the engine? I would not do this. Don't know about the sound.

I've got a tip, and I down shift into 1st just before I come to a complete stop (in conjunction with the brake). Just so I can prepare for the launch.

My guess is that it's caused by excess fuel in the combustion chambers after lifting the throttle. I get a similar sound in my 997S when I lift in a low gear.

I thought it was from unspent exhaust gases flowing into the exhaust system being burned in the actual exhaust...kinda like a backfire.
