Porsche Crest/Hood Install

So just got the silver Porsche crest for the hood...how do I install? The "screws" which hold it on do not have threads.

How do I remove the existing gold one? I just tried to "lever" it off with a flathead screwdriver and it broker off leaving the posts and "screws" still on the car

There are two 8mm 'speed nuts' which is why you do not see threads on the mounting studs. Look for 2 holes on the other side of the hood and the nuts are inside the holes.

Since you have broken one of the studs it will turn when you try to remove the 8mm speed nut. Try to get a grip on the broken stud with pliers while you turn the nut with a 8mm socket. Jeff

You tried to pry it off? What are you crazy. Its a piece of cake. Even a nuckle head like me was able to do it in about 2 minutes.

I like the photo too. Very professional.

done! thanks

I actually couldn't get the rubber gasket to align properly so I left it off. Assume this won't matter as I don't drive the car much in the rain, and I have the 3M clearbra between the crest and the paint so no scratch issues.

Hood Badge Installation

It appears to be somwhat of a mystery on how to remove and install the hood badge. You must remove the 2 pal nuts that hold the hood badge on to the hood. You will need an 8mm or a 5/16 socket. It could be a deep- well socket or you would need an extension. Before installing the silver badge or any badge you should take the hood badge gasket and warm it up by some means. The easiest way is probably putting it into some fairly hot water so that it is easier to stretch. You should not boil it. It doesn't need to be that hot. One little trick that I employ is to attach the new hood badge loosely, then work the gasket edge from underneath the badge with a wooden tooth pick. I am sure Porsche must have a neater trick than this one when they install them on the production line. You can then tighten the pal nuts down a little. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
