Maybe it's worth time to go and make that report.
I think a complaint filed directly against the idiot in front would make him at least think more about it.

Farmers is notorious for this kind of rubbish. My girlfriend just got through suing them for medical expenses after someone rear ended her at traffic lights. She had all the medical bills over the period of a year, plus MRI scans and XRAYS showing the damage to the soft tissue between the vertebrae and STILL farmers refused to pay a single dime, they did fix her car however with substandard parts. For that alone I'd have gone off my rocker.

She sued the bastards, went through torturous disclosure stuff where they ask you all about your childhood etc ... ****ing insurance companies, it's all designed to scare you off claiming. Didn't scare her off though, she did it all and forced them into court. Her attorney quit on her then, I think Farmers offered him a job. The next attorney was an assclown as well. She eventually settled out of court and got the bills paid.

The bottom line ? The insurance company will do nothing they are not legally forced to do. The first part of that process would be to file a complaint against the guy and sue him directly.

I'm not an expert at all, not a lawyer or have anything to do with insurance. I'm just a guy that's tired of being stuck by big corporations and illegal damn immigrants.

I think I learned a lesson about your experience though. If this happens to me I'm calling the cops out there and then. If the other guy drives off then I would hope there would be some law about that (leaving the scene of an accident ?)

Man, I feel your pain. I had a similar situation. A guy cut a corner and hit my front left corner. No cops were called, and the guy basically lied about the whole thing saying it was my fault and sued my insurance company. This turned into a whole debacle including court and such.

The lesson is...trust no one when getting into an accident. Stories tend to change very quickly. ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS call the police and wait for them no matter how long they take. Get an official report and statement from the driver filed. It doesn't mean you still won't get screwed, but it does help your cause.

Good luck

Maybe keep a dictation recorder in your glove compartment to record these choice tidbits of the other guy admitting fault. That would probably help in the future.

Signed confession admitting fault would be what I would have done. If I was not to POed at the guy who just backed over my Porsche. Oh well time for a carbon fiber hood.

first off, you should always file a police report, especially if it wasnt your fault!!!!! secondly, why would the driver put it in reverse at a traffic light? that doesnt make sense to me. finally, good luck.

Let's look at it this way. You came out of the scene good and all. You were lucky he did not come all the way through the windsheild. And what i can see in the picture, there wasn't much gone wrong with the TA front bumper, which would have cost you some to replace. Now you have a reason to go with a carbon fiber hood.

I know that this will not make you feel any better but I had the exact same thing happen before. I called every business on the street hoping that someone was looking out the window when it happened with no luck. It ended up costing about 5k to put the car back together with me doing most of the work.

Fire Department first!!!

Hey good luck with your ordeal.

Just a little insight for future reference or for other members. Police will not respond if no one is injured in the accident or they may send a traffic unit way after the accident. What's best is to call 911 and say that someone may be injured. That will send a fire unit and an ambulance to the scene within minutes. You can always refuse to go to the hospital by signing a "Against Medical Advise" form of some sort. The fire department will then generate a report of that call. Hopefully, you and the other party can state what happened there and will make it to the fire report. You can then pick up that fire report when it is available as a public record.
Keep in mind that the fire agency is there to render medical aid and not to investigate the accident, but a thorough reporting officer may add what was stated by the parties involved at the scene in his report. Stating that there is an injury may also prompt PD to respond. Each jurisdiction is different. Hope this helps.
