300 Track and a 1000 Street Miles: Some Thoughts on UMW's LWFW
SubscribeWell after much consternation, soul searching, phone calls, emails and test drives 1200 miles from my house, I purchased Ultimate Motorworks's LWFW kit. I had it installed last week and have put 300 track miles and a 1000 street miles on the setup. The experience with Kevin and his clutch kit has been one of total satisfaction. First some thoughts on Kevin. Extremely knowledgable, friendly and after the sale service is first rate. More than willing to spend much time on the phone. Do not even call if you have less than 20 minutes, and even that is cutting it close! Very competitive prices. Most important in my opinion: truth in advertising. The claims he made concerning his LWFW were 100% accurate. The LWFW kit= GT3 disc, Sachs Motorsports Aluminum Pressure Plate, Aluminum Flywheel, ring gear, release and pilot bearing, and any extras needed for the install. A complete kit. The only item I was charged for from my shop that was not included in the kit was some Pentosin for the hydraulic clutch.
As for the driveability of his setup, it is tame and totally steetable. As a matter of fact, I never told my wife this clutch was installed and she has driven the car several times and has yet to stall or even mention any issues with the car. I upped my kids allowances to spy on Mom while she is driving and to report back if she stalls. The only person in my house who doesnt know the clutch has been changed is my wife. I let 2 friends who have never driven a Porsche take it out and zero stalls from them either. The engine spins up much faster and shifting at the track was much easier. Heel and toe is much easier for me now.As for the noise. Yes there is noise, a little more than I first noticed. I was listening in the morning when the car was cold and there was no chatter because the fliud was cold. After a spirited drive you can hear some chatter and low gear whine. The gear whine I actually like, sounds racy. I could live without the neutral chatter but I just keep my foot on the clutch. Regardless,I cannot hear it while I am in the car. All in all, this has been a very satisfying experience on several levels: price, performance and customer service. This LWFW is just the opening act of the Kevin show. Sitting on my shelf are some Stage2 K16/24 hybrids with the green dot on the compressor wheel end.... Zero Clearance! Also some beautiful ported and polished headers and the correct ECU programming to take advantage of the ZC option. Thoughts on those products, as well as 1/4 slips and Mustang dyno sheets will be forthcoming. I have no reason to expect anything but a high level of continued service and products in the next step.

Kevin Gsounds awesome. LTW flywheel is definitely a good mod.
Sounds great.. I also had a great experience with Kevin... I had his stage 5 ZC turbos with the Sachs LWFW... the complete kit.

I got a chance to test Kevin's clutch while at Gingerman (thanks) and it was outstanding! Fast blip, a little bit of chatter with the clutch out in neutral (very minor), but almost unnoticable difference from street drivability! I was amazed and plan to head this way when my time comes.
I had that clutch in my car for 2 years.... I had it from FVD Germany... the GT3 RS version with the LWFW- the best bang for the money...
Its the full Sachs unit... whereas some US tuners sell parts of it and they have certain pieces made custom( I don't know why).
