6 Super Car Comparison **Road&Track**
6 Super Car Comparison **Road&Track**
Here's an article that compares between 6 Super Cars, 3 US and 3 Euro from the most recent Road & Track magazine that I scanned from.
US: Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper SRT10, Ford GT
Euro: Ferrari F430 F1, Porsche 997 Turbo, Lamborghini Gallardo
Pretty interesting results, you guys tell me what your thoughts are and how accurate it is because some of the quartermile times seem a bit slow.

Sure doesnt look like the 997 Turbo was a standout, but then none of the cars did as well as I might have thought. The conditions between different magazines tests are just too varied to be relevant. Nice article though. kevin

Not that I don't dig the 997tt, but all these articles make me more and more confident in my decision to get a low mile 996tt and mod the hell out of it for way less $ overall, just my2cents.

I was wondering where the GT2/GT700 was in this test.

Meaning take it on the highway, and it wont be nearly as fast as its 0-60/0-100 times or 1/4 mile show!BTW F430 is damm FAST, wow
- R&T characteristically managed to produce absurdly low times for all the cars with the exception of the 430 and possibly the GT.
- The Ferrari and the Lambo enjoyed a sizeable advantage thanks to their R-compound Pzero Corsa tires. With equal rubber, they may well have been bringing up the rear!
- Beyond that, the Euro version of the 430 with its Launch Control seems to fare significantly better in acceleration than its U.S. counterpart without LC. In any real world acceleration contest, the 997TT and certainly the Z06 will walk the Ferrari as evidenced by C&D's test.
- The TT's trap speed is abysmally low even for the blue haired grandma drivers at R&T!
- This test was actually conducted by an Italian magazine and R&T essentially piggybacked their way through it so the results are questionable at best.
- The Ford GT's track performance is completely out of character given the car's handling abilities so something's definitely amiss there as well!
First of all the r compound tires, are a huge advantage, and second of all the Ford gt Handles much better than the euro cars. I have a ford gt and twin turbo. I am trading the turbo in asap. The ford makes it feel like I am driving a lawn mower. In sound and speed. The handling of the porsche does not even come close to the ford.
These lap time numbers are a mess.

Did they forget to press the Sport button?
Right. Best braking distance but takes more time than Lambo. Interesting. Like to see how that works. Only 1.12g on track when braking while Lambo can get to 1.22? Did they forget to step on the brake? They must have forgot there is another inch of travel in the brake pedal.
How do you have 2nd highest G load in the high speed section while have the slowest speed? Is that possible? I don't think physics work that way.
Oh yea, TT turns in slowest lap time, that's why TT comes in at the top on The Ring when F430 is 15 second behind, Gallardo is 12 seconds, Ford GT is 2 seconds, Z06 is 2.9 seconds, Viper 30 seconds. Right, slowest lap time.... They need to learn how to drive a TT.
