Has anyone used or heard of a material similiar to clear bra that can be used on the front windshield? Apply it before the track event and pull it off and throw it away after the event is over.

I'll add, in a spin both feet in...brake and clutch

enjoy the ride.

My biggest problem i feel is going to be understeer... any idea on what to do about that? THANKS
once you're out there, i'm sure you'll get a feel for your car.

the 1st couple of laps, definitely take it slow as everyone has suggested. take it slower & progressively get faster & faster and feel how your car reacts.

if you feel the understeer, then cut back & brake earlier. also, playing with tire pressures is VERY helpful. if you want to lessen understeer & create more oversteer; increase front tire pressure & possibly reduce rear tire pressure. that will help rotate the car easier.

but most importantly, just go out there to have fun & enjoy your car!

really?? interesting.

at my last driving event, we could use AC & keep windows up in the paddocks, but when on the track it was very important to have windows down, because of point by's & waving.

phoenix I like to start with Secrets of Solo Racing by Watts, this covers auto cross and then track stuff. Then read Winning: A Race Drivers Handbook by Anderson. Then just pick books to fill in the gaps.

At "real" DE organized events with instructors, multiple run groups, and various levels of experience, with passing zones you MUST have windows down for hand signals to pass and to pit in. I think guys refering to "driving with the windows up and A/C on" (Marty, Wross?!) may be at informal events just doing "fun" laps??
other wise sounds kinda dangerous and certainly not a PCA.org, PBOC, Chin, or NASA event.

Absolutely correct Tom...I stay away from the big boys!

I put some clear shelf liner (that I got from Home Depot)...easy on easy off after the event.

tire pressure obviously depends on what tire you are running. say street rubber MPS2's you want to start out with cold pressures about 34-36 and keep at 40 when hot. they WILL heat up alot. I have had my rears hit 50 and above so check often.
If R compound like MPSC tires, pressures are lower cold start 28 front 32 rear to get to around 34/36. This is my own experience and opinion your results may vary.
