Holy bad 1/4 run!!
Holy bad 1/4 run!!
So last night I took my tt out for a quick run on the 1/4 track. I tried to convince myself not to launch the car hard because whenever I've done this I smell the clutch smoking.
So anyway I click off 13.0@111.
The time slip looks like this
2.2 60
5.7 330
8.6 1/8@86
11 1000
13@111
It seemed like I came out of the hole hard and the power just kinda dropped off, later on the street I tested it again and it was fine. I didn't get a chance to look at the bar on the track but off the track I hit 1.0 in 3rd and 4th. I've been drag races for about 4 years and those times match what my 996 n/a with exhaust did. It almost felt like the traction control was kicking in and slowing the car. Any ideas?

TC will pull timing significantly generating the differences that others have already noted. Depends on how you try to launch I have seen as much as 10 mph.

Just thinking outloud here...but you sure you didn't bog on the launch? It's usually pretty sticky out there and I would think PSM would kick in if you had wheel spin so am wondering if it just actually hooked up with your conservative launch and bogged a bit.
I have an 02 TT with the X50 and tip trans how does the PMS affect the take off? My car seems to take off hard if I just take off with about 1/4 throttle. When I floor it with or without the PMS it takes off slow then after about 30-50 ft it it will flat out roll. Don't mean to hijack a thread but how do you get the most out of a car like mine; I am new to Porsche?
