Sharkwerks is cranking out GT700 equipped cars like a factory.
I love it.
Congrats vanboost. Awesome writeup!
Alex, when is Sharkwerks East opening up? We need you up here in the northeast.

I love it.

sharkster, when you don't install the V-Flow intake on your kits do you use the stock air filter. I was thinking of going back to the stock filter from my BMC because of the oil issue but was curious if you use it on the high hp kits.

Well actually what I was doing for folks "if" they wanted was pop in a BMC or K&N (the oiled filters are fine) and going "euro" by removing the back piece or dremmeling out some of it to let more air in.. albeit hot air. It's either that or just a normal K&N. Frustrating but it explains why none of the European tuners have any type of intake since it's not easy. Weird because the GT700 car I have hear (a yellow one) has not killed one since day one.... 15K miles in a year and a lot of track miles etc....

Heh we're way too small to split like that... so for now it's just the good 'ol transporter sadly. Actually the shipping fees have gotten a lot better lately. We've had them come in from LA, Miami, Poland (yes really), Vegas and a couple of other places...

This whole MAF issue is real weird. Is the MAF issue the increased amount of air going across the MAF on a modified motor vs. a stock one. I wonder if the stock filter is really much more restrictive than the K&N and BMC.

I really stood on it in Third and the steering wheel went a little light in my hands. The car beat me on the backside like it was my Daddy. Are there out-clinics for this condition? I am hooked.
The V-Flow will sit in my garage until MAFs can roam freely once again.
I just tried to upload some photos without luck, technical difficulties. Please stay tuned for a project page on Sharky's site (presuming Alex has the time!!!)
Cheers

Nice meeting you at Sharkwerks last week...(I came in to look at some new "custom" wheels that Alex is helping me get together).
Gotta love the GT700 package .......

You should bring it down next year for the Sharkwerks "Baja Cantina" run. Group photo of all the GT640/GT700/GT800+ cars ..........
Enjoy..

I gathered some technical data from another tuner that actually has a MAF upgrade. but that's not the point.. nor am I trying to take away anything from GIAC... but in a nutshell.. here is the problem:
some tuners use the o2 sensors as their primary feedback
sensor because they're well beyond the limits of the MAF/Pressure sensor.
thus, a MAF reads to 1400kg/hr or 51.4 lb/min
which on it's best day at 10hp/lb/min is 514hp, more typically 9.5 on 996tt,
for about 490hp will do that. Even in a larger tube, to go out to 800hp,
the thing would have to be 108mm or so vs. the stock 85mm tube, and that
still wouldn't be accurate due to the sensor only sticking out 40mm or so.
It wouldn't be in the middle of the tube.
my point is... there is more to this MAF problem then we think and it doesnt have anything to do with the V FLOW...
I wanted to post this cause I think its valuable information...
