Busted in Marina
Busted in Marina
I was driving east in the The Porsche From Hell Saturday at noon on Reservation Road outsite Marina and was approaching the stoplight at Imjin Road. The light was red and there were 4-5 cars in each of the 2 lanes that went straight. I slowed to about 45 and the light went green. There was a separate right turn lane and, on the other side of the intersection, a separate lane to merge into traffic that went about 75 yard after the intersection. So I did it. I punched it and passed everyone on the right as I went through the intersection. My V1 was quiet.
Now I'm cruising at 75 and I look in the rear view. I see a dark Ford sedan pull out from among the cars and pass them on the right, accelerating heavily. I hit the brakes and slow to 50. He comes up behind hard and hits the reds. I was ready and pulled over immediately. He obviously didn't have his radar on or the V1 would have caught it long ago. I fumbled for my license and registration. He knocked on the passenger windown and I rolled it down as I told him "I know I know, that was stupid, I was wrong, it's just so easy to do in a car like this." I apologized again. He told me no one had ever made his job so easy. He took my license and reg and studied it. He asked me what year my car was and I told him--and told him what an amazing it is. He said, "Yea, I got one, too, aren't they amazing?"
He flipped my license and reg back to me and told me to "cool it." Then he said "Have a nice day."
I still can't believe it. I noted his name: .

You were lucky, and glad it went in your favor.
I did a similiar thing here in MD on 695....saw a long straight with no one in front...punched it to about 125mph+, and with my luck an unmarked car was about 5 cars behind me. He stopped me and gave me a warning...told me he has a yellow 911, and we talked Porsche talk for 15 minutes...coolest MD state trooper I ever met.
