Suggestions on additional Turbo upgrades
Suggestions on additional Turbo upgrades
Hi fellow 996 TT owners,
I have done the following to my turbo, and would love some input to any addtional suggestions!
ECU changed to 1.5 bar from stock .8
GT2 Intercoolers
K24 Turbo's
Ported and polished headers
Diverter valves
Waste gate recalibrations
Fabspeed exhaust
**Having GT3 RS Flywheel installed as we speak**
Thanks,
Tim

I've been doing quite a bit of research and unless you are running on 101 octane or higher all the time, having you boost set to 1.5 bar has you at the 'edge' there and depending on whether you want to protect your motor, that seems pretty high, especially for pump fuel and on a stock fueling system. You will be going pretty fast...but for how long
...
Have you noticed your timing getting pulled yet on some hard runs?

Well I agree with the above so after you get that boost to about 1.2 then I would consider a suspension upgrade. Depending on your driving likes, anything from PSS9's to motons.
Also a short shifter kit if not done.
Upgrade your turbo boost hoses to the higher pressure silicone ones before the stock ones blow.
GT3 front 6 piston brake calipers with the 14" rotors.
Have fun!

Some other suggestions:
-lighter wheels
-better tires
-better brakefluid and pads (Castrol SRF and more aggressive pads if on track)
-lots of suspension stuff
-motormounts
-seats
the list goes on...
I've heard stories about the stock boost hoses blowing, but is it really the hose itself or the seal/clamp?

That's too much boost for the K24s. Make sure you don't go more than 1.3 (at most). 1.2 is where we usually set things on those turbos. Tim, if you really are going to do head work (I don't see the point at that level of power?) then you may as well do the other parts of the motor. Head gasket, ARP studs, rods etc....

Best ditch the K24's and go back to K16's.
