Turbo slave cylinder replacement directions?

Since my Turbo has been having a very inconsistant heavy clutch pedal, I think it is time to get my slave cylinder replaced. I do want to thank BigBadBen for helping me out yesterday.
Does anyone have directions on how to exactly replace the slave and accumulator? I think I want to try tackle this. Also does anyone have directions to bleed the clutch fluid. Many thanks.

Just make sure that you pump the clutch pedal until it is hard as a rock before you loosen any of the lines! Trust me on this one

Ha, gotcha...I am thinking since it is hard as a rock at startup, the pressure is out. But I will do as you say. Thanks.

I have a complete [2000 page] shop manual- if you are interested I can burn you a copy and mail you the disc. No charge of course.

I just did my slave three weeks ago. Call or shoot me an email. Getting it lined back up is a pain cause' your hands are on both sides of the tranny! PM me for my phone and email if interested.

Good luck!
Tom.

You say your pedal is hard at start up, do you have any trouble selecting gears at all?? If not i would start with the accum. only. when the slave starts to go bad the diaphram inside doesnt hold full pressure and will not extend the rod all the way making gear selection very notchy and hard to get in. If you dont have this issue i am wiling to bet all you need is a new accum.

During the 4 years i worked at EVO i have replaced countless accumulators, but not 1 slave, all with the rock hard pedal at start up.

Derek, this post is a year old. Just thought I would bring it back up again as know one posted directions. The issues I am having are inconsistant pedal release point. Sometimes it release at the floor and sometimes up high. I also had the stiff pedal in the morning last week. I was just going to try the accum. first but thought I might as well do the slave while in there. I am pretty sure I can replace it w/o diagrams but just not sure on the bleeding procedure.

Dgreen,
since you are having inconsistent engaging points i would do as your doing and r-r the slave as well. Not difficult, release the front trans mount and you can gain quite a bit of room by lowering it down on a jack. Once its replaced(slave with accum) bleed the slave just like you would your brakes(if you dont have a vacum bleeder or motive power bleeder) and to bleed the accum run the engine and work the steering wheel back and forth, always making sure you dont go low on your pentosin level.
good luck!!
