Tom, I am taking to heart your concern. However, you need to see the car to understand how flawless it is, even though it has been in an accident (which you describe, not fully accurately as "wrecked"). No expense was spared in getting it to perfect condition, and the paint is better than any OEM Porsche I have ever seen.
However, the bottom line is that the acciident will reduce its resale value, something I must consider, although I really want to keep this car for a long long time.
As far as the mods go, I would never be close to satisfied w/ the stock 480 that the current TT produces (=less than 400 to the wheels). My naturally aspirated VQ's and Mustangs have matched that. What I have dreamed about is a car w/ 550 to the wheels on high boost and 450 for every-other day driving. So the mods are nearly perfect for me except for the possible need for stronger rods. I will keep my G35 for most DD and probably sell my Mustang. I would have to spend 70 at least on a late model 966TT (and it would have more than 2800 miles for sure). I would then have to drop a fortune in it to get it close to the performance levels of this GT2 (not including the ceramic brakes and suspension).
What it comes down to is how good of a tune was done by Momentum BMW/S-Car-Go. I want info on their work. I have driven the car and it is incredible smooth, of course you must respect its power. And the nearly 600whp on high boost is backed by a dyno.
I trust my friend and his integrety. Nonetheless, I will do a PPI to get all info and have a professional check the body and paint.
My gut says that I should buy this car.
