Now come on and out with it! Would love to hear all the different turbos you've tried on the 993TT and from that perspective. I've only tried 5 combos- all of which I actually liked for different reasons...

Really? I was going to go into more detail about the Donkey show... Never mind that. But sure thing. My guess is that it'll fee like it's quicker off of the line than yours but then your bigger turbos would walk the car away from 60 onwards. Sadly my focus is going to be on the GT3-RS from now on:P No more pushing it too far, I just want to have a 100% daily D turbo car that's comfy, easy to drive and I don't need to worry about heh...

k16's
k16/24 hybrids
K24's
K24/super60
K24/Gt35

factory cats, cat bypass, custom short exhaust, factory headers, fabspeed headers, fabspeed mufflers, factory mufflers and modified factory mufflers.

I used the above turbos with various above exhaust combinations.

I found that if you use factory exhaust the K24's were soooo laggy. If you free up back pressure the turbos responded quite differently.

I found the K24 hybrids (either super 60 or GT35) had great boost response and unreal top end if combined with a good free flowing exhaust. Boost response was similar to factory K16's with factory exhaust.

The fabspeed headers increased lag.

Fabspeed catbypasses, fabspeed mufflers and factory ported headers with K24 hybrids IMHO is one of the best combos for the 3.6 ltr motor.

Tom (K24) is the only guy that I know that not only finished the Kenny Bell
book (I did not), but has reread it several times for FUN!!

Hybrid K24's has LESS lag than stock K24's. The top end is also sooooo much better.

In the end the K24 hybrid is a far better turbo than the K16 hybrid !!
Do you have some numbers to back this up...I would like to see them since I have no data for a comparison. Please no Dynojet data... this was on a Mustang so lets compare apples to apples. Thanks, Kevin

This is from my 993tt running 1.2 bar of boost with K24 hybrids. Expect 75-100 more whp on a 996tt with much better bottom end (due to 4 valves and variable cam design)

Nice numbers, but that is a 993TT...not a 996TT. Two totally different animals. Do you have any numbers from a 996TT so we can compare. Thanks, Kevin

The car in the real world with .8bar springs hits full boost at or just before 4000RPM's and keeps full boost to 8000RPM's....for me, this is great power under the curve....once your out of first gear...its pretty much lag GAME OVER...I will say it again...its the air flow through the engine that wakes up the 996 tt's..so HEAD WORK.. HEAD WORK.. HEAD WORK!! On a stock head, the powerband would be completely different.

CJV-
Well said!!!...and thats 915whp, not 900+wph ....and SPDRACER (amoung others) did wet his pants...I had to steam clean the seat!!
I also have diapers in the glove box just for a joke (well a joke in some cases) !
Here is a photo of a guy that needed a diaper after a 170+mph front straight run at Willow Springs...he was screaming bloody murder as we drifted into turn one...

Alex,

Does your car utilize GT3 heads or turbo heads that have been ported/valved to GT3 specs or greater?

No I don't. Most people here know the differences would be 75-100 whp.

stock k24's on a 993 = 400 whp with tunning
stock k24's on a 996 = 500 whp with tunning

Folks I have recomended the combo to on 996's have seen close to 600 whp on a mustang dyno. If I can get my hands on a dyno sheet I will post it.

Heh... I got the feeling he had. I must admit I didn't get to the end myself. I use James for "cliff notes" though

That's a lorra stuff in there! Even though the 993TT vs 996TT are different animals I totally agree on the K24 comment. I wince everytime someone with an X50/GT2 says they want just a flash. In order to make the most of the K24 you _MUST_ uncork it with a free flowing exhaust system. Asbolutely. I like the K24/GT30 set up myself
