Both are very similarly priced at the moment, around 90k. What do you think has better value? Similar cars but very different at the same time. Opinions please.

550 M may appear better value and is certainly a classic but if you follow the experiences of UK EVO magazine whoo bought a low mileage 550 M as a daily driver the running costs are astronomical and you'd better live close to a Ferrari dealer

I was seriously considering a 1999 or 2000 550m before I picked up my 997S. It's really hit or miss with the Fcar. Sure the SCHEDULED matnce is a lot more, but all it takes is one problem out of the blue and you could be looking at $15k...But, I do hear that if properly maintained and DRIVEN, they can be quite reliable. And of course there is no sound in the world that compares to a Ferrari V12 at WOT. Who cares how they compare in performance, it's really apples and oranges. the Porsche is a daily driver and you see them all the time...the 550M is a whole 'nuther ball game.

Yes, I guess the reliability is major advantage of the 996tt. The 550M is risky as who knows what could break down or how the car was driven. I guess the 550 is heavily discounted for a good reason, high future maint costs.

Ferrari is a Ferrari. But not just in looks, sound, feel but rather maintenance, and cost's as well

Honestly people hopping into the sports car scene right now are in luck, there are so many cars that came down in value that are a BARGAIN for such an amazing car.

Porsche turbo it is!

LOL, I just sold my 996tt a month ago, may pick another one up this summer. The turbos will continue to depreciate though I cannot see the price going below 50 but who knows. Hopefully this summer an 01 turbo with 25k miles with go for close to 50k. Guess I bought and sold at the wrong time.

Especially if you look hard enough... I mean a 996tt for 60k, Maserati Coupe for 45k, and GT2 for around 100k. Seriously some good buys right now-- and those are just off the top of my head, there are WAY more.

As for the 550/Turbo question. I'd probably find a higher mileage 550 and drive the snot out of it.

That's what I'm going to do when it's Fcar time for me! But it will probably be a 360/430 in my case.

Exactly fella's. I dont know why in the hell im getting rid of my turbo, i mean i think about what it does for the money, what can be done to it for the money (mod wise) and i kick myself in the ***. I guess people just get bored faster than another. I could see myself picking another one up also in a little bit, so many cars i want to experience out there though

I bought my 2002 TT in March, right before the downward spiral began...Oh well, they can bury me in it...I've driven quite a few of the cars out they today (including the Buggati). For me nothing approaches the performance/value/daily driveability of the TT. It's my only car and its 640hp! If and when I get bored I'll just go GT700.
