So many options

In the market for a 2002-2003 and one thing I'm not used to is having so many options on a car. Porsche really lets people personalize the car if you buy new I guess eh? Anyway, all I really care about at this point is that it must be black/black. That already narrows down my choices. Are there any options that many of you consider "must haves" that I should be aware of? Or any options you wish you had after buying and driving your current car for awhile?

the TT unlike other models in the 996 range comes standard with a lot of stuff that is optional on others...xenons are standard, electric seats with memory standard (sports seats are a no cost options), and from 02 the Bose system is standard, the rain sensor and dimming mirrors...
I like the alu chrome package which includes alu dials, door sills and dual tailpipes (like on mine)...I also like any of the optional shifters and handbrakes (the stock one is too flimsy and doesnt have good grip)...
Also, PCM I (MY 01-02) SUX but PCM II (MY03 on) is awesome!!

I'm not sure if there are any "must have" options; however, there are several that definately improve the look of the interior. Carbon fibre or alu-look trim pieces look good, especially the shifter, hand brake and steering wheel. The sport seats look nice, but you'll give up full electric and memory. For the exterior, I think the Aerokit looks fantastic. But, most of the trim pieces can be added later on if you don't happen to find a car with the options you want.

Options Ranked by Importance (IMHO):

1) FULL Carbon Fiber
2) AERO Kit
3) X50 Dual Tips (easy after market)

Other's I purchased, including full leather, heated seats, wheel well lighting are just fluf.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the carbon fiber look? I just think it looks "cheesy". I've only seen pictures, maybe it looks better in person? ...

Cheesy isn't the right word because it's real and expensive as hell. I'm with you in that I don't prefer EVERYTHING in CF, but a few pieces look good, unless of course you have a carmel or other real light interior. Then IMO, wood looks better. Buy what you like and know that adding or subtracting anything is possible. It will be much less expensive the closer you get to what you want in the original purchase (used, not new from the dealer).

I tend to agree - sometimes less is more. I have black interior and did just the doors, steering wheel, rear center console and shifter/handbrake. I skipped the side vents, upper center console, instrument surround and trims strips.

I like full carbon with a black interior ONLY! I find the carbon fiber to look out of place with most other colors... particuliarily the liter colors.
